Just installed my Thule Aero blade 7502 & 7503 roof bars. Very strong worth the money. No noise going down the highway which is another plus.

Default Noise

I have the Whispbar with no noise that I can notice. Is the Thule Aero 7502 & 7503 truly zero noise or would you say slight noise?

I'm thinking about making switch to Aero, to gain an inch of height for my skis.

Default Rubber Channel

Do you have to take rubber channel out to mount a box? I've heard once removed the bar is very noisy?

@cookcle

I have used Rockymounts in the past and was very happy with the quality and price. Plus you can get the trays in a ton of colors, so if that's something you want (I had 2 red trays for my bikes), they attach to anything, and borrow common hardware from other manufacturers.Pardon the crap pic, just showing the contrast.

anyone using a thru axle adapter for their mountain bikes? Just bought a new mtb and its a thru axle bike, bought and adapter from rocky mounts (have a rockymounts rack). The reason I ask is I cant seem to get the adapter to stay upright when the bike is in the rack, it tilts all the way forward once the bike is loaded.

Hey everyone I'm prepping for the winter and of coarse living in Utah, I snowboard. I bought Thule racks and I have the aero crossbars with my impreza sport. I tested them out and the back blade is angled up and so I'm worried about the fit with the boards. Should I just buy the Thule cross bars to get that same level fit and look.?

Does anyone have experience with the Thule Xpedition line of roof baskets? Wanted to get an opinion/review of someone who has used it before.

Do they make anything like this for 11+ WRX. Not the cross bars the vertical bars.

I am interested in the Rhino-Rack 2500 series system. It's about $270 complete. Seems really inexpensive compared to other systems. Does anyone have any experience with this brand/system? Thanks.

I know its been covered, but just wanted to double check. For those using Whispbars on sport models, the S54 size is what works best? Going to pick them up tonight.

I just purchased the Inno Fairing along with the long bolt kit. I have the factory aero bars and from what I read in pervious post. It should fit just fine. My only question is. On the aero bars there is a plastic piece that comes to a point on the underneath part of the aero bar. Does this piece need grinded down in order for the fairing mounts to fit?

I have the Yakima round crossbars. The fairing in the front stops it from going "wump wump wump wump wump" on the highway, but the wind noise is still pretty loud. I think sound deadening on the roof would go a long way.

No need to touch that. The fairing will clamp with no issues over those with the long bolt kit.

Question.

I found 4-ish options for my car that I like. Aside from OEM, would you say that Thule or Yakima would be more "secure"? Not the gear being more secure ON the rack, but the rack it's self of being removed without the key..

Thanks!

The Yakima that I have attaches with an allen key. There are additional locks available to cover the bolt, but I don't have them.

Malone bars connect via clamps with Allen wrench, then has a lockable cap over the Allen bolt so you need a key to remove cap to get to the bolt.

Gentlemen,

I have narrowed down my choices to:

1) Yakima Railgrab with 48" round bars
2) Thule 450 Crossroads with 50" square bars

Went to REI today to check them both out, and these are the ones I liked. I decided to stay away from the aero bars, for no other reason than because they're silver. I didn't want them to match my car, but rather be black and match the rails. Plus, they're cheaper. I will get the end caps for the bars, as well as the 4 pack of locks..

My question is, what is the best size of fairings for our cars using factory rails with crossbars, not the add-on sets you tack onto a plain roof. I have the 44" listed for both Yakima and Thule, but have also heard the "Inno medium" works. I am also considering the Yakima wind-jammer. I don't plan on getting this off the bat, but instead getting it later after I decide if the wind noise is THAT much worse than it already is. I find this a very wind noise prone vehicle as-is.

I suppose, in addition, convince me of going with either. I am currently leaning towards the Yakima. Simply because I like the look of the towers better, and I feel the round bars should be quieter than the flat, square bars of the Thule. I plan on later getting the attachments for snowboards and bikes, and both will provide acceptable use for each. I like the added clearance of these systems over the ones that are basically flat across the rails.

In addition, are the rounded "ends" of the Thule fairings removable? If so, I'm considering just getting the big Thule fairing, and removing those. I don't like the Yakima fairing very much.. It's weirdly shaped. lol

Decided on the Yakima Railgrab setup. Getting it at REI next week sometime.. To me, the Yakima looked better than the Thule. The Railgrab sits flush, the Crossroad looks "tacked on".

You will buy a fairing pretty damn quick. I put my bars and kayak mounts on day after I got the car. Not thinking about it, I almost took the car back to dealer cause it sounded like my wheel bearings were going out. At 25-50 mph it had an annoying moan and roar like metal on metal. Above 50 it was just sick loud. Added the fairing a week later and now just a little wind noise from kayak mount at speed, and with those off but bars and fairing on it was as quiet as bare back.

Yeah, I'm gonna let that one play out. Might get the big Thule one and wrap it. The Thule one looks better. lol

What size bars did you go with? Not trying to have them hang way over the car..
