Just sold my Pitch, haven't been riding as much this year. Maybe I can pick something up over the winter to get back into the sport.

There are many great companies and philosophies when it comes to building bikes. I have been trying to demo bikes all summer to see which direction I want to go. Jamis, Rocky Mountain, diamondback, Santa Cruz..... That's just the tip of the ice berg.
I ended up upping my budget. Went to my local bike shop and rode the 400 to 500 dollar bikes with rugular and mechanical disc brakes. Then I hopped on a couple bikes with hydraulic disc brakes, and didn't want to get off lol.

I had it narrowed down to a Specialized hard rock sport disc 29er and a Haro flightline sport 29. I liked them both after riding, and was going to go with the Haro based solely on the fact that it was 70 bucks cheaper. The shop wasn't able to get the color I wanted on the Haro, so they ended up price matching the specialized. I'm pumped, should be here mid-end week!

That's awesome man. Congratulations. I rode 5-6 miles of pretty great single track tonight with a couple of buddies from work. One of them does have a specialized hardtail 29er. He loves it and does very well on it. The hydraulic brakes are great, I will agree there. Still currently running mechanical disc, but I plan on the next one having hydraulic.

Might be doing a day of DH this Sunday at Sunday River after NEFR. Anyone from that area down to ride? I sold my last downhill bike a few years ago so I'll be renting a bike at the mountain but it would be cool to ride for a while with someone who is more familiar with the trails.

Just went and bought this after work. Super stoked to put some miles on it. Subsequently I have an older full suspension diamondback DBR X2 for sale. Asking $425 or best offer.

Just picked this up a few days ago. 2011 Specialized Epic Expert Carbon. Has a set of Roval wheels, newly rebuilt drivetrain, rear shock and new saddle. Weighs in at 24 lbs. This bike is a huge change for me because I'm coming from a 38 lb Iron Horse Warrior 4.0. Can't wait to test this thing out on some trails and I'm in the process of booking a visit to the Kingdom Trails for May.
Few things I need to get used to with this bike:
-Saddle appears to be a XC racing type saddle, it's not forgiving. I typically ride in normal shorts on a more cushioned saddle, might be a good time to invest in some quality mountain biking shorts and/or boxers? Any suggestions?
-I'm on the fence on which pedals to get, I like the freedom of flat pedals and I'm not sure I'm ready to take on some clip-in pedals. Have some standard plastic ones installed for now.

I was a bit nervous about buying it at first since it's designed more as a XC/race type bike and wasn't sure if it was right for me since I have a more aggressive hit-all-the-features-at-Vietnam style. Did some research and realized there really is no "right bike" and I'll probably have more than one bike in the future.

Great looking bike! I can't wait for spring to come around so i can finally hit some trails. I personally have clip in pedals. It takes a little bit to get used to, but overall i like it.

Very nice looking bike. Can't wait to get back out on the trails myself. Buddy and I have booked tickets for the dirt rag bike fest for the middle of May, down in PA.

Bumping this thread now that the Spring weather is here. I've already been out a few times on the XC bike trying to get back in shape. Trying to finalize a small build I did on the DH bike over winter, can't wait to test it out.

I'm interested in seeing how the new DH park in western MA is coming along. Should hit it up some point this season.

This x1000000

I've done most of the XC trail network at Berkshire East and across the street at Zoar. Brutal workout, but some great trails and scenery. Would be nice to have some DH in the mixup.

I don't but you remind me that I should build a pump track. My primary workout now is riding my BMX bike but I hurt myself too much on that. Pump tracks are fun and so damn good exercise.

It's @ Berkshire East. Apparently the same people that build at Whistler (Gravity Logic) are building the trails. Super excited as it's like an hour from me & there are some great driving roads on my way.

I rode some singletrack yesterday. Wompatuck State Park. In fairly good condition. New to the area so I'll be looking to find some decent trails this season.

That's awesome news. I heard a rumor Highland is being sold and having parking lot paved and all that lame stuff.

I see a price hike in the future. Hopefully it won't start sucking but this might be a good backup.

Pinknike just had an interview celebrating 10 years... sure it's not any easy business to keep out of the red, but it is truly one of a kind here in the US. Hope there's no truth to those rumors!
