I feel like maybe I'm not getting the best deal. Perhaps it's because I'm in long island, ny ad there aren't many Subaru dealers. My dealer will not go below msrp. As he says due to the limited supply we have people willing to pay over sticker. If you don't want it then come in so we can process a deposit refund.

2013 Wrx base - $25795 + 789(del, dest) + 2156(ny tax) = $28754 OTD

Seems a bit high compared to what you guys are paying. Car is 2 weeks away from being here and starting to second guess my order...

$28.5K plus a pretty competitive trade in for a Forester XT

So, I know that this is just a bit different from some of the other order figures that you are seeing but I will at least share my experience. First of all, I hear the slimy owner of Subaru of New England finagles $500 out of EVERY Subaru sale so that comes out of the pocket of the buyer, hence larger invoice from what I can see (can anyone else validate this?). So, I was printed out the invoice sheet and the car is $27,7xx. With accessories it was about $28,250. I basically got the car for $250 over invoice with a very competitive trade in for my car - which makes that number almost seem lower.

So I am kind of wondering what others in New England are hearing. This was the second dealer I went to today and when I threw a figure of invoice at the first dealer (Somerset Subaru) they said I "Wasn't even in the same ballpark". They quoted me at $29,050K and the manager was being "nice" because I bought from them before. And they essentially were gonna give me a bag of balls for my trade in. They lived on the point that only 13 WRX's are going to New England and it did not even make sense for them to drop the car below MSRP. Again, two totally different experiences and stories with two different dealers about 25 miles apart from each other (it pays to do some shopping).

So I do not think a deal like what Mike was offering can be realized anywhere near New England from what I can see. Unless someone can tell me otherwise and kick me off my high horse. I thought I negotiated pretty well and was able to only get $250 over invoice. Maybe in other part of the country these cars can be had for a bit cheaper?

4-6 week estimated delivery; was told possible sooner. The wait is gonna absolutely kill me but it will be worth it!
I was told 8-9 so don't tell me about long waits

Thats tough. There are plenty of other dealers out there who want the business and are willing to play ball for it. At least a little bit. Shoot you could have it shipped from a different dealer, eat that cost, and still come out way ahead. However, I have a feeling there are some rules against that. I would just poll the dealer list by proximity until you find your deal. A weekend road trip to pick up your Scooby and save some coin would be well worth the time shopping the deal. If they don't want the business, they don't want the business.

Why don't you try out of state. I live in queens and went to jersey to order my sti and I got it for 500 below invoice

I hear you guys...it truly is tough all my surrounding dealers are giving me about the same price 1 about 500 cheaper but I would have to wait an additional 8 weeks after waiting about 10 weeks. I mean technically according to the pricing that mike provided its fair what I'm paying but not preferred. Additionally if I wait the additional 8 weeks I would has to get inspection and registration for my car so the $500 difference is really a $300 difference. Buying out of state something I'm not sure about. Maybe I'm just getting depressed.

The extended wait is your biggest enemy here. If the difference in the deal isn't major, stick with what you have coming in. The instant you drive onto the lot and see her sitting there, this feeling will be replaced with schoolgirl giddiness and be 100% worth it.

That's what I keep telling myself, it just sucks that I ordered the car knowing 8-12 weeks sometimes longer which would of taken me to end of sept. which would be awesome because as of sept 20th I'll be a member of the leave no trace behind program for 6 months which would give me Subaru VIP program pricing. Automatic invoice price no questions asked, but my car is coming 2 weeks earlier then my plan. There would be no disappointment, but I guess that's how it worked out. By a measly 2 weeks! I wish they could hold the car that long and then I go get it sept 21st

So whats the deal with no pictures of the new 2013 wrx or STI? Im curious to see if the rims are the same as last years. Anyone know when subaru will release pictures? It seems weird because they have already built 2013's but their not giving us pictures??

I was also elated to find out that tax is 3%! They also offered options at cost. I opted for no options (not sure if I'm going to regret this) just to keep costs low and start with a clean slate. They said 8-10 weeks for delivery. I think I got a decent deal and can't wait.
Don't get too excited on the tax. You'll end up paying the tax from where you live.

As I posted earlier I ordered a '13... since then I have been reading about Break ins and have read a lot of conflicting posts/threads. Some say you need to be fairly hard on it right away so the rings set better.. others the opposite...

Ya I mean people always have arguments about everything. Before we even get our cars Subaru redlines the engine as a "breakin" to make sure everything is functioning but you can be safe by doing a proper break in or be ballz and break in hard it's really just how you feel about people's arguments

Both sides of the break-in argument have valid points. On one end you have the Subaru owners manual backers that contend the procedure was developed by Subaru and they aught to know best. On the other end you go for a hard (though not thrashing) break in to seat the rings properly.

Recently read a procedure on here that seems to mix both nicely.. basically do a few 1/2-3/4 throttle pulls from 2-4k, that way you're making the engine do some working duty while not abusing it or exceeding 4k. Some mild engine breaking is beneficial too. In either case, don't go crazy but yes definitely vary engine speed, and always warm up before you play.

I just picked up a 2012 WRX Premium, but due to the supply shortage, I spoke to many dealers about ordering a 2013. My dealer in RI agreed to sell me a 2012 WRX Premium for $300 under invoice if they could trade out for one, but they came up blank. He put in an order for a 2013 and was going to honor that price: $27,500. However, I was able to find a 2012 Premium in NY state for basically the same price, so I got my deposit back and he cancelled my 2013 order.

I spoke to 2 dealers who were looking for $500ish over MSRP for 2012's: one was in Western Mass and the other was on Long Island. Most of the other dealers I spoke to in Mass were willing to deal 2012's for around $800 off MSRP, which is pretty good considering there are only a handful left in the region. The ones that were charging sticker (or more) were adamant that they could get it....and none of them ever called me to sweeten the deal.

After what I went through, I think you did fine as long as they took care of you on the trade in.

I called a few dealers down that way and they wouldn't budge. I have a feeling there are dudes from the city that are willing/able to pay whatever to get the car that they want.

Maybe call around upstate and see if you can get a better deal? I'm from RI and I just bought a 2012 from Mid Hudson Subaru, which was 180 miles and two states away. They were great to work with and it was totally worth my while.

SWP WRX Limited 4-Door
-Navigation
-Armrest extension
-Rear cupholder
-Severe weather companion
-All weather mats and cargo tray (will be purchased seperately when the car gets here)

They priced the car and all the add-ons at invoice, coming out to ~$28.6k-ish before destination and tax. They also offered a competitive trade-in value. Order was placed at Subaru Loveland, CO. Great dealership to work with, very straightforward. They said typically 8 weeks or less, but it may take longer.
