I think it comes down to the control arms.

Default 02 TS Wagon replacement parts

Hi All!

Does anyone know where you can pick up either a used (but unrotted) or decent replacement front subframe for an 02 TS wagon in the New England area?

I bought a wagon on Saturday at an auction house and as I tried to drive it home yesterday - I realized WHY it was up for auction...*

I've been able to track down control arms fairly easily enough (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...33&postcount=2), the front subframe is more troublesome.

The car has 256k on it and aside from the control arms and subframe, everything else seems pretty rust-free (brakes not-withstanding).

It's going to be a daily driver for our 16y.o., so I don't need anything geared towards racing (although I wouldn't complain personally... ). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

*-funny, but sad sidenote. I discovered how the authorized dealerships handled the control arm recall (which this wagon had done back in 12/11). They hit the control arm with something and see if it dents. If it does, they replace it. If not - they spray protective paint on it and call it a day... Gotta love 'em...

Need to add something to the 02-07 impreza section:

If you use '04STi lateral links, the sedan axles are ever so slightly too long and may bind. This should apply to any car, sedan or wagon.

Never mind - I found a decent one a Hebert's in Goffstown yesterday. There are a few spots to weld up, but otherwise- it's in perfect condition.

Rear yes, front I'm not sure. Also not sure about Crosstek but likely the same.

so iv been deciding on either tanabe df210 or gf210 for my 04 wrx.
i want to go low with df210 but i can only find them on ebay and they say "05-07", im guessing it would still fit mine, but i was reading that the spring rates are higher on those so it would actually be higher then putting 04 gf210s on. can someone clear this up for me, thanks.

DF210 suck in my opinion. Way too low. I helped install a set and did not like them.

Springs meant for STI will probably be too firm for your OEM WRX shocks.

So to confirm, a strut assembly (strut, spring, top hat) from an 05 WRX sedan will fit without modification on an 02 WRX sedan?

Thanks for the reply. Reading another thread similar to this one gave me the impression I would need to use my rear 02 top hat and 02 spring, with the rear strut from the 05.

Not all sedan springs give a saggy butt on a wagon. I've seen many sedan springs look totally fine on a wagon.
You can put them on and see how it sits. Then decide if you need saggy butt spacers (and what size) and install them if you do need them.
The spacers can be installed without removing the rear struts.
Disconnect the sway bar end links, remove the three top hat to body nuts. Stand on the hub and wrestle the spacer in there, then reassemble.
