upper control arms Legacy Baja
Will the upper control arm from a 2004/2005 Legacy fit a 2005 Baja N/A? Is it the same part? Reason for asking is I need camber adjustment in the rear of my Baja (there currently is no way to adjust), and I would like to buy the White Line adjustable bushings that fit the 2004/2005 Legacy, they look like they would solve my problem. Thanks

2007 front strut inserts - need some help
New here as I'm not an STi owner but own a machine shop and am looking for some information. I need to replace a strut insert for 2007 STi that was damaged. I was looking at new strut prices and it appears that the retail price for a front strut for an STi is $330 - 380 while the same strut for a non-STi car is half that.
Is it just a matter of different valving or is the actual insert a different size / configuration? If it's just a matter of valving/ shim stacks etc, I'd like to buy the less expensive pieces and use the shaft / piston assembly from my strut in the new body. Any help would be greatly appreciated whether it be information or possibly a lead on a used strut that is available. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks in Advance Mark Halmi Independent Machine Works Oakland, CA |

The STI struts use a cartridge that fits inside the housing, unlike a standard (WRX) strut. They will in no way work with WRX struts. How is it damaged? I'm assuming the cartridge is damaged and not the housing. You can probably find a good used set of STI struts around for a fraction of the cost of new. What many people do with STI struts are to send them to a company called Feal down in SoCal. They rebuild and re-valve them to perform better than new. Being a machinist, this is something you might want to try yourself, but getting it right takes lots of trial and error and a great understanding of these components. Stock STI strut are known to be harsh and this is one of the things Feal rectifies very well. Again, STI struts are an inverted design and can not be rebuilt with WRX type struts. Also, 05-07 STI front struts do not match up with WRX struts (the 04 STI is the only one that does match the WRX). The STI clevis is too wide and the holes don't match up. STI struts have been modified to fit in a WRX, but it would not be easy (not worth all the trouble) to go the other way. Used is the cost effective way to go. You can try rebuilding them yourself, or send them to Feal. |

Thanks for the info, its very helpful.
It is the strut insert/cartridge that is actually damaged (I did it). Any leads on a used insert beyond the obvious (CL and eBay) would be appreciated. |

Also for local Bay Area listings, go to I-Club classifieds. I'm also in the Bay Area and that forums great for local stuff. Good luck. |

Have you tried asking on the Legacy and Baja forums? They don't share much with the Impreza platform that this forum specializes in.

With a quick look the rear lateral links are the same part number. The front and upper lateral links are not. Just because the front and upper lateral links are not the same part number does not always mean it won't work on your model. As was said ask in a Legacy/Baja forum for a definitive answer. And PLEASE POST YOUR OUTCOME HERE, for future searches. Good luck. |

Would an 03-07 forester coilover fit into an 04 STi? I know they are both 5x100 but I'm more concerned about the top hats.

Well hi. I need some advise, fast
I have bought KYB AGX's to a 2000-2002 WRX (Bugeye) and Eibach springs to a 2003-2004 WRX STI (Blobeye). My car is a 2007 Impreza 2,0 R which have the WRX body, without the engine and turbo, so the bodywork is 5x100 PCD. After fitment of both AGX and Eibach, the rear keeps making "klonk" noises. I was told in Denmark, that they would fit. But after finding a few treads in here, i can se there is a difference in the struts, springs and the strut top mounts. My car is the 2007, but should i buy Bugeye strut mounts, Blobeye strut mounts, or womething third to make it fit properly? |

As you said the AGX are Bugeye fitment (USDM 2002-2003, Europe/Japan 2000-2002). The Eibach you have are Blobeye/Hawkeye fitment (USDM 2004-2007, Europe/Japan 2003-2007). Now only the rear springs and top hats are different between these fitments. To get the blobeye/hawkeye rear springs and top hats to work on Bugeye rear struts you need a special washer. Commonly called a 921 spacer. These 921 spacers are available from a US company called Turn in Concepts. They are inexpensive at around $20 US. Install these spacers between the rear struts and rear top hats and your problems will go away. You are using Blobeye/Hawkeye rear top hats right? If not then you will need a set of Blobeye/Hawkeye rear top hats and the 921 spacers to make it all work. |

Hi. Well, i dont know if they are made for the US or EU Impreza's, but i know the Polish dealer had to bring one strut home from America, before he could ship it out.
I jused the OEM strut mounts (the top of the strut) tyhat was on my car, on the new AGX's, and it makes a terrible klonk from the right rear side. I'm thinking about replace them for some new, as i think one of them have taken a little damage from the dismount of the OEM springs ad struts, and the mount on the new struts. Im guessing that i should buy this: http://turninconcepts.com/scooby921-strut-spacers.html How many? But how can i know if it have taken damage? It would be silly to change them know if they still work proberbly? |

If you have not put too many kilometers on the struts since they were installed, they should be fine. It would probably take a month or more of daily driving before permanent damage occurs with the way it's set up now (without the spacers). Yes, you should buy those spacers. They will fix the problem. |

I mean the top hats. They have drivin 130.000km on the OEM struts, and wasnt changed when i shifted over to the AGX's with Eibach springs. Some say the bearing inside can get damaged when jusing a airtool to break apart the old ones, and install them on top of the new?
Or does it only make the klonk because i need the spacers? |
