Question to any of the dealers, will a sold order eventually show up as Inventory (ie, 'This Vehicle Is In Transit') on the dealership site, or is this reserved for unclaimed allocation stock only? Subaru dealership sites seem pretty uniform so I figured there's some level of automation to it. thanks again for all you guys are sharing with us!

Not a dealer but can answer that. Even claimed vehicles show up as in transit on the site inventory.

It must depend on the dealer. Mine showed "in transit" until I sent a deposit. It was then removed from the site.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes to get a VIN once the order has been placed?

I'd really like to know how the 8-12 week process works.. Week 1-2, factory recieves order and starts the build.... Week 3-6, car gets built..... Week 7-8, car waits at dock for a boat.... Week 9-10 car gets to U.S. Port, gets addons if any..... Week 11-12 car gets deliverd to dealership.....

Not true (at least here).

If the dealer enters the car in as a sold order it will never appear on the consumer website.

The cars taht do show up on the consumer website can be "reserved" by the dealer to get them removed if they were originally stock units.

At least for SoA this is how it works, not 100% on the east coast and their goofy Subaru of New England stuff

My mistake. I've seen quite a few people that have seen "their order" on the inventory as "in transit" with everything matching up and assumed that's how it was for everybody.

East coast thing I guess. I know a few people who bought from SDC who all saw theres in transit. Sorta wondered if I should have just ordered from an SoA dealer maybe I would not still be waiting. Seems like SDC and SoE are just an extra middle man we need to deal with.

That's not exactly how it works, but I agree with your overall opinion that it is ridiculous

Those may be people who gave a dealer a deposit and that dealer already had that type of wrx/sti coming. The dealer is supposed to use subarunet to "reserve" the car so it gets taken off their site.

Many don't because they want to generate more sales calls to the store. Some don't because they are lazy and just make a note internally that that car is sold.

Question, looking to buy my first car. When people are saying some amount under invoice, is that without taxes and title fees?

Thanks

I think I'm placing my order tomorrow! Dealer said they would do $800 under invoice as a courtesy since this would be our 7th Subaru thru them. I'm going to get the spt exhaust and cargo mat as well. I'm debating if the front lip is worth it. Dealer said they would get the accessories at cost. There's no installation fee is there?

Default Smart Dealer

Heuberger is a dealer that WILL deal. They sell a huge number of Subies and VWs and negotiate up-front and without tricks. I appreciated them when I lived in Santa Fe, NM: a great reason to cross the border to get a much better deal.

You'll get the VIN once the car is delivered to the dealership. Pointless asking for it before then anyways.

Just ordered a 5-door for slightly under invoice and trading in the LGT. Added fog lights, AW mats and cargo liner. Thinking about also adding the body side moldings. Anyone have the dealer cost on that add on?

Thanks in advance!

There is no installation fee if the options are port installed. If you wait and the dealer had to install the items there will likely be a dealer install fee.

I placed my order for a WRB Limited 5 door last night and got all my add ons at cost.
