Default 2012-2020 Impreza Rims & Wheels Gallery Thread

I want to upgrade my rims and wheels from the stock steel wheels with the plastic cover....I think mine are 14"? 15"? I don't know. What size should I get? Mine is a 2013 hatchback base.

I want the bigger ones cause it looks cooler and have better handling, gripping, and braking maybe? I don't know I'm guessing but DO I want new rims and wheels, the stock one's so boring.

Any recommendations? Show off your rims and wheels for the 2012 - 2013 Impreza here !

My car color is dark grey metallic.

varrstoen es2 17x9 +35 235/45 tires. mexipoke like crazy no feder roll required. just looks dumb.

04 sti bbs 17x7.5 +53 225/45 tires. nice and flush. rear would need 5mm spacer. sexy look.

mb weapons 17x8 +42 205/45 tires. nice and flush(tiny poke). rear is more flush. (my current set up, gonna paint them black tomorrow will have more pics)

i do not have any other angles of the other sets ups. this is all the pics and info i have.

bigger isnt necessarily better. you want better grip and or braking distances, its more in the tires. yes bigger wheels youll get the "cool" look. you can always go to autozone and get the plastic hub cab covers and youll be "cool".

So the BBS's need a 5mm spacer in the rear to fit or just to be flush all around?

You are right, the first black rims looks dumb, maybe I shouldn't get black on my DGM.

Second is not bad, but the third pic is just sexy...

I'm new to the wheels/rims thing, what does the numbers mean?

Numbers explained:

Wheel height and width, 17x7 17x7.5 17x8 etc. the 17 is a 17 inch wheel. The 7, 8 etc is the width.

Offset, +38 +52 etc. Has to do with the hub backspacing. So how fat the hub is in relation to where the wheel spokes and such are. This part is the confusing one.

Tires, 225/40/18. 225 being tire width. 40 being tire height. 18 being wheel size.

Okay so the 17x7 I understand, thanks for explaining.
Offset, I'm confused. I'll research on that.
But the 225/40/18, I thought that the tire width was 7 and the height was 17? Isn't the size of the wheel 17x7? Why is it 18?

i think that was just an an example.

on a 17 x 7 inch rim, you could run a 215/45/17 tire. 215 is the width of the tire in milimeters, 45 in the percentage of how the tall the side walls are compared to width, so the tire in this case is 45 percent of the 215mm width. and 17 is the diameter of the rim.

so on a 18 x 7 inch rim, you could run a 215/35/18. all the numbers are the same but 18 and 35. 18 is the diameter of the rim. but why 35? because if you think about it. you want to keep the diameter of the tire, not rim, close to stock. so you would want a skinnier tire on a larger rim. and vice versa. the smaller the diameter the rim, the taller the side wall of the tire, the taller the rim, the skinnier the side walls.

Wow those looks nice, you got a link to those? Not bad for $95 each.

How much do rims cost anyway? I never bought them before, I only purchased tires once when I had my old car.

wow.. what a loaded question. well you can get steelies (the hub cap black ghetto wheels) for about 32 dollars a piece or you could get the spoon jdm racing wheels for about 2,000 each.

just to be more flush. it just looks ugly with the front flush and rear a lil more tucked. dont know why subaru did that. same issue with legacys as well.

i wouldnt say black wheels look dumb. i think its the best color for dgm, or any color. just the size of rim and offset is what looked bad.

ok they aren't all ghetto. but you get the point. they could be cheap steel of they could be expensive forged wheels. i wouldn't mind steelies. cheap ass tires.

Yeah that's true, someone needs to upload their DGM with 17-18 inch rims and nice tires

I prefer black rims though but open to other colors as well.

Can't have BBS gold wheels here in NYC, otherwise this will happen.

Just be careful w offset. Wanna match stock as close you can depending in width of wheel. Otherwise you get poke. Unless you like that or going for "stanced" look.

Free shipping from them on eBay so might be worth a look.

How do you guys think some 04 STI BBS's in gold would look on an Ice Silver 13 Sport wagon? I think the contrast of gold on silver would look neat. Then I'd get them powdercoated matte black down the line..

Also, for anyone running aftermarket wheels, what size are our lugnuts? In terms of the stud hole. And what type of lugnuts be used on the STI BBS's? Acorn seat, angled seat?
