If you're desparate you can use my garage in Leesburg next week during the evenings but that's a trek from Waldorf.

Ah yes, I remember you messing with a tire up in the parking lot. Adam M.'s tire looked like a christmas wreath with all the grass that was in his, haha.

In regards to tires "health", how stringent is Tech Inspection? I have a crack in the rubber section just outside the rim, will this be grounds for disqualification?

I would say no, but keep in mind the stresses you'll be putting that tire through. If I were you, I'd bring a spare set of wheels/tires just to be safe.

I would like to think that stress-wise the tire would be fine. I've put it around NJMP's "Lightning" track and it's had no trouble at 100+ mph. To me, it looks like the crack is right where the rubber is thickest. I'm assuming that's there to protect the rim, but I'd still hate to drive 3.5 hours just to fail tech

I doubt tech would have noticed that if you had not just posted a giant close up picture of it.

If you can pick them up in northern DE I have a set of bald snow tires on 5x100 15" steelies you can have. They are "race proven" and have passed tech on several occasions .

the grass in the paddock is usually pretty long. Just park your car so the crack is down in the grass

Will 15'' clear 2011 wrx brakes? That is a tempting offer...I just ordered new tires for the front of the car, so if you still have them a couple months from now, I'd be interested in buying them from you.

David, you're only coming to the T&T and not the competition event?

Btw, like how you specifically noted in the registration that yours is a sedan, lol. Seems like us sedan guys always have to note that we have sedans, lol.

I'll be there in my sedan too. Just not my WRX sedan

Also, are those your stock SP Sport 01s?

34 already registered, and I know at least 5 more guys that will register in the next few days. Wonder what the biggest RX turnout has ever been at Summit?

We had 50 couple at the first event this year. Biggest turn out since I started in 08.

Yeah, I didn't really feel like putting out the money for Sunday since I don't think I, or the car, are ready for the competition yet. Plus, my girlfriend wants to come and watch, but she has to work Sunday morning.

I guess that's a subconscious thing, haha. It does always seem that if there are any 3G wrx/sti cars out there, they are always hatches. Just had to be different

Yes they are. I just ordered two Direzza Star Specs to replace the front tires. They'll be mounted Friday, so it ought to be an amusing maiden voyage for them...

Assuming we do not meet the cap (60 drivers) registration will be available day of on Sunday for an additional $10 over the online price. ($70)

There were several 50+ers back in Oakland Acres days but the most epic one for me was when Tom Lawless and John Drislane brought their rally Evos, Lawless brought his rally Honda (not scored) and Constantine M. brought the Heikki Salmen rally Mercedes.

For those who didn't know, the first DC rallyXs were held at Nissan (JiffyLube) Pavilion in Gainesville.

cool, yeah I'll be in the e30. WRX is on 330# racecomp springs and bilstein cups and would be extremely uncomfortable on a rallycross course. Plus it doesn't have as much clearance as I would be comfortable with.

And I bought the e30 specifically for this and so I wouldn't be tempted to run the rex

Tires.....should be interesting. You better hope for the Barn Course, since it's usually pretty hard-packed stuff where the Star Specs/SP01's will probably be just as good as anything else. Last time we were on that course I almost changed off the rally tires to put my star specs on the e30 (they're my street tires for that car).....course was as hard as tarmac.

The tires should be fine unless the water truck comes through,

You have exactly what I want, lol. I ride by an E30 everyday after work, it constantly teases me..

I figured that I was pretty much screwed when it came to tires since I don't have a set of steelies and rally tires. So I bought what I thought would benefit me most on a daily basis. My girlfriend wants to start Autocrossing, so the Star Specs will help her with that and it gives me the perfect excuse to buy an E30

nice....well $1k e30s are pretty easy to come by around here, especially if you just want a rallycross beater. There should be 5 or 6 of them at this event, so make sure you jump in and feel what going slow and sideways feels like
