Custom Metal Fabrication Idea's
I had no idea this section of the forum exsisted!
I just started my new major of Automated Machining Engineering. So far we are only on the Milling machine with Lathe coming up in a few weeks. Eventually we will head over and get some work on CNC's. So my question to you is what are some parts I can fabricate from this major? To date I have a few parts I will attempt: - Shift knob - Rear Tow Hook - STI boot trim (#1) - Bushing Molds So if anyone has any items that can easily be fabricated let me know. If there is a desire for a certain part I will become a vendor and produce a few for sale! Thanks guys! #1

What about some kind of structural brace to tighten up the rear end of the car?
Something along these lines.. Not in gold, obviously ...: |

McLaren F1, I still spooge a little every time I read or see some. One of my all time favorite cars, from a styling and performance standpoint, one of the timeless masterpieces. I also instantly recognize the engine bay as I am still re-reading EVO mag. that did a profile on the anniversary of the F1. Lots of backstory, history, and development history along the way. Including Gordan Murray's hatred of a bracket right in-between the CFR airboxes in the top of the photo. My fav. response from him: "It is hideous, it is a bracket on a bracket. Lime some cheap crap you would find on a Ferrarri."
OP, didn't mean to hijack your thread, just love the engine bays of them. And, yes, they are all coated in the gold reflective barrier in the engine bay. But, for the little rear chassis flex our cars have, unless it is for aesthetics, that much bracing would be overkill. But, look very nice. Travis |
