Default 3M Headlight Restoration Kit

** I don't have any sort of affiliation with 3M or this product i just used it and it kicks ass!**

I wanted to give some JDM Bugeye headlights I just bought a freshening up. Although they weren't very bad to start with they did have some pitting, a lot of light scratches, swirlmarks and dullness.

I tried some hand products like some blue magic lens restorer that i had already, and some other polishes and waxes, and althought the dullness was reduced, the headlights weren't "show worthy".

I went to the local auto zone and stumbled across the 3M kit, and after using it i can truly say it is amazing how well the lights look, not one single scratch or pit on them and they are glistening.

I highly recommend this product to anyone that wants a straight up, all included kit that really gets the job done, without any type of hassle or mediocre feel afterwards. If you are very picky like me and only demand top notch, this is good stuff, it'll put a smile on your face when you see how ridiculously good your lights look.

I have read all the posts about clearing headlights and i can honestly say that this kit is every good advice..... but in a box... and a price tag. And the good thing is that the kit brings so much stuff you can probably do it again to your foglights or wives car, if you do it right the first time, which is not very hard to do.

So, FYI, if you need your headlights to rock... get this, and don't look any further.

HERE'S a video i found after i already did it , it's helpfull

This product is indeed a SOLUTION to a problem. It scuffs, polishes, and buffs.

Use it on my headlight lenses when I cleared them, they look almost as good as new, better than when I got them for sure.

It definitely is.

I changed up the first part a little by misting the lens with water when i used the lower grit, but then i didn't change anything else. At the end i also added a few coats of nuba wax to seal the deal.

I used this kit before to remove haze on my headlight. It worked perfectly, removing scratches in the process then buffed to a super clear see through finish.

This kit rox, I used it about ,well 2 years ago, it attached to any drill, I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet.

Glass polishing is going to take a very long time. For the 3m kit is it the Best OTC option to me. You can also use a buffer and some compound. The key after you restore is to maintain. The hazing comes about because the uv coating has worn off the housing and is now trapping contaiminants. Keep the surface polished, sealed, and waxed and it wont be coming back for a while.

Where did you find this. The two autozones near me don't have it. Looks like I'm going to every one of them in the triangle area.

Amazon carries it for a good price if you cannot find it locally.

Going to go look for this at auto stores nearby. I've tried the hard way wet sanding then rubbing compound then polish. This way seems a lot easier and more effective

The 3M kit works AWESOME. the headlights on my 02 bugeye were horribly yellow, faded, scratched, and just downright nasty. It took bout 45 min to do both properly and the results were amazing. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

drivers side already done

passenger side not done(obviously)

just to compare

Mask it off with two layers of tape

Sand it till yellow is gone with 500 grit

resand with 800 grit

wet sand with 300 grit

Polished finish product!

All done with the 3M Headlight Restoration kit. I found it at autozone

Any suggestions for Morettes? It looks like I can do the same process but the lenses are much smaller than OE.

The product seems to work quite well! The down fall is that once you do all the sanding to remove the haziness there is no clear coat left on the headlights!!! So guess what........ The haze will return!!!

^^ I was skeptical too, but it's been months and still no haze on mine. I thought I was going to have to buy new headlamps as mine had a thick coating of yellow haze, but now they're like new! Highly recommend the system.

Do plastic headlights really have a clearcoat?

if you sand with 500, then 800, then 300 isnt that going backwards making it more rough?
