OMGHi2U The CrossFit thread

Yes, yes, I know there is already a general fitness thread, but with the large number of otters doing Cross Fit, we might as well make a thread to keep up and post times etc. without sifting through the rest of the Fitness thread. there's a place for comments on the site itself but it's pretty meh.

Does anyone find the warm-up listed on the site to be a bit much? I'm pretty fatigued by the time I start the WOD, and doing 30 dips/pullups every workout seems a bit extreme.

My friend (an air force SSgt) of mine just so happens to be a certified CF trainer. A couple of my old AF pals participate in his CF program. Its pretty cool, just too intense for me.

This is better.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing.

I'll take more pictures of that girl please.

This does remind me that I gotta throw more cardio into my workouts...I basically only lift and do a bunch of walking in the day. I guess I lift mainly because it's fun for me and I was never much of a runner.

Yea don't point out to your wife that if she did CrossFit she could look like x or y trainer on the site. It's not persuasive, just retarded. Trust me.

There are several different sites out there that follow the crossfit framework and have they're own WODs: crossfitsandiego.com, spartafitness.com, etc. There's and infinite number of ways to design the individual workouts, really. You could even technically create your own to focus on a particular area like power, agility, etc., but the framework is more structured than it seems at first, you can't just do anything and have it be terribly effective. I'd stick to one of the pre-described sites. A great deal of firemen, police officers, professional fighters, and military personal now use a crossfit framework (as well as the actors from 300, seen here).

That said, it's not the end game of all fitness and bodybuilding as we know it, but it has proven to be very effective and is certainly less boring than some other routines.

Oh and today's WOD:
Normal warm-up then
Weight/reps on DLs:
5/110
5/110
3/120
3/130
3/130

I'm weak.

Cute girl, our gym is full of those, CF makes girls look amazing.

As far as the warmup goes, when i first started CF it tore me up, hell i was just doing 3 sets of 8 and then the baby workouts. After two months or so all it is going to do is get your blood moving. I now do 10,12,15 reps for the warmup and then jump in to the WOD.

CF will make a beast out of you, no doubt about it. Not to mention it makes girls simply stunning. I would say that 75% of the people in our gym are girls, i simply love days where we do wallball or deep squats

The guy who runs crossfitoahu is the person who introduced me to crossfit. I used to run in the mornings, and lift in the evenings, reading BB mags, copying routines. I've always done well with physical tasks and have maxed the army pt test, no big deal. So I thought I was in shape. Then the owner of crossfitoahu had me do:

8 Rounds for time:

20 Wall Ball
20 Box Jumps
20 Pushups

And I was huffing and puffing, and sucking, and I've been addicted ever since.

You can tailor the work outs to meet your goals. I personally don't do any of the crazy cleans and snatches, because I know I'll hurt myself cause I'm d-u-m-dumb and not trained.

The only problem is that I'm now a douche for doing crossfit. While in the gym and I see people doing those tricep kick back things and other dumb worthless workouts, I get mad and look down on them- and that is something I've never done in life.

Before I left Arizona, crossfit was picking up- but more as a fad which also irritates me.

I don't know what CrossFit is. I would like to know, and will read about it later with the help of the Internets.

That said, I will also look for pictures of that ridiculous bewbmonster later, ALSO with the help of the Internets.
