the super charger discharge is the one with the blue coupler . the upright is the the feed from the turbo.

Concerning the increased load levels down low however would pose a problem you wouild think . well i ran the car compounded for like a year at least. on a stock motor . with 437whp. with 15psi on the supercharger .and when we took the motor apart the bearings were perfect . Along with the acl race bearings , we have a modified oil pump , and the oiling setup on the crank is now a t-oiling setup . i think we will be fine at 18-20 psi. but at the end of the day its up to the tuner , so it may stay at 15 for all i know but i doubt it . hope that helps .
How about this? On 100% completely stock internals. 8s anyone?

or this? 7s anyone?

not 1600 though just to stir the pot.

Very cool fab, huge props on the design of this setup. I'll be curious to see the overall result.

Are the intake manifolds totally separate? are there any concerns without having a tube between them for balancing pressure, could be tricky to tune.

The intake manifolds can be separate as long as the feeder tubes come out of the same intercooler (I am sure you knew that), but if you look at the piping out of the supercharger, across the front and down, it is a single pipe, ie, a single intercooler.

Ahh, yes that does make sense wasn't thinking of that, good call.

ya good call man . even though the two manifolds draw from a common source(the intercooler) we are still going to have a balance tube to ensure even cylinder filling . different length pipes and bends etc. im sure its going to be tricky to tune regardless , mostly due to the dual throttle bodies . gettin the tip in dialed should be a good time .

I guess it might not be super bad, if you can at least monitor each side separately with dual 02 sensors, you may find that all you need to do is offset one side by 1% or something, at least hopefully it is that easy...haha. Good luck!

I doubt it is going to be difficult due to the dual throttle bodies as long as there is a small balance tube.

Im not sure why someone would use any form of flash for something so complicated. When we tuned for my quad tbs we had a 4d map to get it to idle and run smoothly using the motec..

My thoughts exactly. Can't wait to see how/if it runs.

that wasnt my point.....

my point was simply, if you're gonna go that route.....why pay for it.

I have absolutely no experience with an AEM, motec or Hydra so i cant comment on the benefits or downfalls of the standalones.

I was simply pointing out that all ecutek does is make things way more complicated than necessary since you need a license to tune it and it locks out other programs (romraider) from logging when ecutek is loaded.

I had ecutek put on my 06 sti.....then tried to switch to romraider.....the only way to recoupe any cost with ecutek is to take your ecu out and sell it and then buy another one. with utec and ap you actually have an item to sell without hassling with swapping ecu's. plus ecutek locked out my logging capabilities and it also locked out obd2 readers from being able to read CEL's. Pure piece of **** IMO.

AP, ecutek and romraider are simply different graphical interfaces accessing the exact same tables.

had open source been available to me when i bought into ecutek , i would have went that route .i know its pretty much criminal that once u buy their product they pretty much own ur ecu, but alas here we are . it was one of the first question i posed when i began this build "will ecutek handle what we are about to do ?" . i still dont really see why it cant do the job personally . i know that on speed density it would be better but i already bought into the data logging / map loading set up as well as the licencing etc.
the guys at fat are wanting me to go with an AEM EMS now . i dont know if im sold on it ... any suggestions?

I wasnt answering ur point mate.. jsut making another point from ur reference...

i would go an aftermarket ecu with such a complicated build, so much more can be done that the standard ecu is not able to do. like i said u can create more intricate maps which feed off alot more imputs.. But tuning costs money so all depends how far u want to go..

On all of the DBW cars, I've been able to flash a completely stock ecutek map into the ecu, and then flash over it with an AP or Opensource. You could always sell your current ECU, but ECU's with immobilizer (05 STI and newer) seem to be somewhat of a pain in the butt to sell.

I personally ditched my stock ecu in favor of the AEM for my personal setup (GT4094r, built motor, CNC ported heads, big cams...). For one it can run my 8 1000cc injectors (4 primary and 4 secondary) and seems to run better with the big cams than my stock ECU did. Overall I am very happy with the driveability. I can't speak for how easy it was to tune, but from sitting in the car with the tuner on the dyno, he seemed very happy with how it performed and how it tuned. My tuner is Tim Bailey of Surgeline Tuning.

i dont see why spending another 1-2 k on some proper em is such a big deal... im sure this build is already cost a fortune...

for such a complex build, it would be a slap to use some basic em like a reflash....

i am a bit oldschool with a version6 apexi power fc, but the ability to make changes while driving, not having to reflash, and just having the functions of a standalone is awesome.... and the pfc is by no means the best.... something like a motec is going to really wake this car up.... and make it so much better to tune...

i have read alot of good things about aem ecu though...

Alrighty then , the AEM EMS is on its way .
new engine management was not something i planed on getting into , so I wasnt sure what exactly to do . after a little research , here we are . anyone have any use for an ecutek ecu as well as the map switch/road dyno stuff ?
i am really hoping the car will run soon . like this week or next . As soon as i get some results , ill get it up .

Hey Dan,

I stopped by and saw your car when i was in town last week, the engine bay is amazing looking, I am super stoked for you. I think you are 100% making the right decision on going with the AEM, I am right behind you to be honest. Every tuner I have talked to has stated that for custom setups like yours and mine the only way to go is full stand alone. So what you loose Cruise Control... Totaly worth it for the power gains. Plus the Wide Band and data logging capabilities, not to mention if you ever wanted to learn to tune your own car this is a perfect chance. So many Positive Vs. Negatives. Can't wait to see the numbers man, I can only imagine the TQ and PWR curve.. INSANE!!!
