Took off and painted the side emblems too last night in satin black to match the rest of the trim and now headlights on the car.
Came out great, just be prepared to have blisters on your fingers from taking the glue off the car if you decide to do this!

Do you not like the yellow? I think it looks mean as hell... That and the LED blinker set it off.

I think permanent treatment is a tough choice for some, you can emulate the yellow tint by switching to yellow bulbs. The reason I painted yellow instead of going that route is because I like to run OEM bulbs. The higher wattage bulbs do nothing nice for the barely adequate electrical system as is, let alone their lower quality and higher rate if burnout.

The LED's are sweet but an additional 6 OHM, 50 Watt resistor will be needed to avoid the hyper flash problem.

For anyone wondering, go to my build thread to see my headlights with just yellow bulbs and not the yellow paint like Overland did for reference.

I got one of these for my LED signals. Works like a charm. Simply unplug from stock module and plug into the LED module. Works up to 4 LED's on the car so front and rear signals are all LED's.

Hey Man, this puts a smile on my face, made my day, thank you!
As I write often in this thread, I love to help others like I've been helped over the years by others. I never one word answer or make people feel bad for asking the same questions that are many pages back. I want people to feel comfortable asking for help or advice and I hope that I'm doing my part to make this thread a valuable resource for future WRX owners.

Cheers to you mate!

- Jason

Nope, just sprayed right over it. Used mineral spirits and warmed it up to about 110* before I sprayed it. Did one light coat that dried instantly, than a heavier coat. Then baked for 2 hrs at 125* in a convection oven and let cool overnight.
Hopefully it'll hold. If not, ill get the oem black ones, lol

What process did you use to tint the DRL yellow? I've tried searching but to no avail. Your car looks fantastic

Yeah I was debating just getting the OEM blacks. I tried to mess with plastidip and crap, didn't work out well.

I saw a few hatches with the lip but have yet to see black on a light color. I was debating the black lip on my silver or if I should paint match silver. So far I have chose to do neither because I am lazy. I may just spend the $60 on paint matched silver and if I don't like it, paint it

Still love your car man. I was going through my browser bookmarks and laughed when I saw I bookmarked this build page. How is that for a compliment.

I know your detailed write ups have saved my ass more than a few times now. Keep it up man, we need more people like you on these boards.

I used Dupli-Color metal cast yellow for the high beam area. Once the headlight was split I misted two coats over the chrome. In the picture below is what it looked like before I put the lenses back together.

Oh plasti-dip... I haven't used this stuff before but I hear good and bad comments about it. The Rust-oleum plastic spray that I used seems to work well even though the outside of the badge is actually metal

WOW, that is quite a compliment, thanks!
I haven't put much thought into the fact that it was black on white, lol. I think because I will be going with a gloss black roof soon I didn't pay much attention to how it looks now. I plan to experiment with where the black will be on the roof, I may go all the way back with through the wing or just stop at the roofs edge. We'll see, either way I'll be doing it in vinyl first, than painting once I find the look I like better.

I have a pretty good photoshop mockup of how I was going to wrap my roof. I saw it as three ways, 1. Stop at the end of the roof, 2 wrap the roof and that small section of the wing, but not the whole wing, 3 wrap whole roof and all the way to the trailing edge of the wing.

To me, option 2 looked the most coherent. 1 just looked like it stopped short and 3 is hard to transition with all the complex curves of the wing. I'm still debating a matte black to match wheels or gloss black to simulate paint. Hard for me to choose if I never see it in person haha.

I could throw the quick photoshops in here to better illustrate what I am saying if you would like. Figured I wouldn't since I don't want to clutter your build thread. Also you are 100 times better at PS than I am
