Default Porsche Panamera - would you buy a 4 door porsche sedan?

I was looking at the actualy uncovered pics in the latest issue of Car and frankly, i would NOT.

Maybe if it looked more sedan-like i'd consider it, but it looks too much like a stretched 911 with 2 doors added on. And i can imagine driving around in one and getting the same question: 'why didnt you get a REAL porsche (911)'.

i get the same reaction looking at the Aston Martin rapide

If i want a proper german sport sedan, i'll take an M5 anyday.

If it wasn't so stretched looking, it might look good. They made the Cayenne (sp?) look like an SUV, I'm sure they can make a Porsche sedan

Brings back memories of the 4 door Lamborghini Portofino concept that was created right after Chrysler acquired them. Its one thing to have a sports sedan ala the M5, etc but a 4 door family sports coupe? Bitch are you retarded?

It almost looks like what a 4-door dodge stealth might look like.

Porches are for you and the trophy wife. She doesn't pack, she buys sexy outfits whereever you go. And you, being a man, pack light. The 911 will do just fine, thanks.

So, no.

thats ferrari/lambo, in my mind. modern porsches are the look at me, sporty , mildly exotic, semi rare daily drivers that people get to demonstrate that they've 'made it'. with a few exceptions (gt3 obviously)

Depends if they let you get rid of the traction control. Right now, the new M5 doesn't do it for me. I hate SMG, and the manuals potential is sapped which kills its road course performance.

Now a previous gen M5, I'll take two!

So you don't like the SMG because it places performance above driving fun, and you don't like the manual because it places driving fun above performance?

Meh, I'm probably just jealous because you've gotten to drive multiple iterations of a car that I can only daydream about.

What? Your really reaching and reaching on that one. Unless you didn't understand me. The traction control on the new M5 cannot be turned off, and costs the car a lot of performance. Its not the manual I don't like, its what comes with the manual, specific to the new M5.

In fact, the traction control on the manual apparently takes a lot of the fun out of the car, the whole point of getting the manual.

No, I don't like the new M5 manual, because it hurts how much fun it could/should be. Just like every professional driver who's driven the new M5 manual and commented.

I've driven the previous two versions...both on the road, and on the track. I am trusting the pro's on the new one,

Now ive never driven the new V10 powered M5 but plenty of the last model, but everything I read about the transmission was that it was pretty good. I mean it has 7 gears doesnt it"?

thats not the actual photos in Car magazine, i just grabbed that randomly off GIS, but the actual car doesnt look all that different, just slight detail changes, but my point is the overall body concept and look.

Thats the SMG. And I know I'm not alone with people that hate the SMG. Can't stand it. I could even live with the DSG, although I'd prefer 3 on the floor. But the SMG leaves myself and many others severely let down.

My college roomate drove an SMG M3, it has the jerkiest, most unfluid driving experience ever. I believe C and D also refered to it as the devil, almost in ever months edition.

And with all the reviews of the traction control issues on the 6 speed, I just might rather have a 400 hp M5 instead of a 500 hp one.
