2000 Outback running hot
Have a 2000 Outback that supposedly has had the headgaskets replaced already and I have added a container of that SOA coolant additive stuff. Last week, during our heat spell, was coming home I-5 south and as usual from des moines and past the tacoma dome it was stop and go. Noticed the temp gauge moving higher as we poked along and it almost got to the last line before the traffic broke free and we moved along much quicker and the temp dropped. both fans were working, the reservoir is at the full mark and hasn't moved. no leaks.
so, now what or is it normal for the temp gauge to move that far high?

I would guess that your thermostat is on it's way out. Cheap and easy to replace.
