Default Towing small trailer?

I want to tow a small open flat trailer 4'x6' with my 02 WRX sedan but the manual states towing is not recomended, but you can tow with the wagon version.
Anyone think I'll be okay towing a very light load and why can you tow with the wagon and not the sedan??

the biggest problem you are going to have is rigging up the wiring. You can get a hitch from etrailer.com. The wagons come with a harness adapter under the cargo area floor - the sedans do not (although I believe some folks have found "surprise" wiring in their sedans - not sure what you'll find - but the wires are all in the trunk to tap into).

Don't go over 200lbs tongue weight & you should be fine. Do a search for instructions on wiring.

*disclaimer* I am not responsible for stupid things you may do while towing, etc, etc, etc...

The trailer I want is so small it doesn't even have lights! I just want to be able to take junk to the landfill and do home projects.

You will have no issues pulling something of that size

No issues, Get the hitch from etrailer.com as stated and save yourself some money. I have pulled a 5'x8' trailer on my RS and the STi without any issues at all. The trailer load when pulling it was my bike and luggage when going on vacation.

I used to tow my jet ski every weekend with my 2002 WRX Sedan; no issues. The reason why it isn't recommended w/the sedan vs. the wagon is because IIRC the wagon has a slightly stiffer rear suspension.

the wagon is also slightly heavier and slightly narrower, both help with a trailer. (probably not enough to make any difference whatsoever, but you get enough things put together that all have a 'slight' effect, it adds up)

if you do decide to install wiring, you need a converter. subaru's (most imports) have a different turn signal bulb, so you need a converter to go from a 4 wire system to 3 wire used on trailers. (uhaul has one with LED's for $20)
