Default Road rage doesn't work w. motorcycles

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...incident-.html

Quote:
A Ventura County motorcyclist died after being dragged 75 feet in a collision with an RV on Highway 101 in what California Highway Patrol officials described Tuesday as a road rage incident.
The motorcyclist, who was not immediately identified, was traveling south on U.S. 101 shortly after noon Monday, when he got into an altercation with the RV driver, said CHP Officer Terry Uhrich.
A witness told investigators that the motorcyclist made obscene gestures before suddenly pulling in front of the larger vehicle and slamming on the brakes, Uhrich said. The rear wheel of motorcycle got caught under the front right bumper of the RV, which lost control and slammed into the center divider, he said.
The biker, 57 was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Uhrich noted that the biker was wearing a so-called skull cap which partially covered his head but is not certified and did not provide protection in the event of collision.
I'm pretty sure than any helmet will not provide protection from an RV crushing you.

This is what happens when middle aged men have to rediscover their youth on a Harley. They're the most dangerous riding demographic going.

Locally, a 57 year old man crossed a double yellow on a cruiser on a windy back road, and ran head on into a pickup truck. These are old men who rode when they were younger, and now that they have money, they're riding again, only they don't take MSF classes and assume that they know what they're doing.

I had a squid flipping me off for cutting him off once. He was doing about 25 over the limit and trying to move into the same left turn lane that I was entering after being stopped behind a long line of traffic.. except that I was doing it where the white lines started and he was doing it 50' back in the yellow lines. I had my signal on for at least two blinks before I even moved over and didn't even see him until I'd already gotten over. He was right up on my bumper, laying on his horn. After the turn (onto an interstate on-ramp) he rode up parallel with the front fender and leaned over to hang a middle finger over my hood.

I was in the Miata.. and considered how a little entanglement might have played out. Nope.. the 600 sport bike wouldn't have amounted to much after a quick swipe from even a Miata. I'm sure the rear tire mark on the front bumper would have buffed out. That guy was very lucky I wasn't still 19 or I would have done it.

Would that be situational irony? Motorcycle tough guy getting skewered by his own sissy bar?

I spent the last week driving an RV around Yellowstone...the idea of stopping one anywhere close to quickly is hysterical. I know this is harsh to say but I kind of hope it will make the rest of the guys that ride like this wake up and stop riding like a bunch of douche bags as I have deal with these idiots all the time.
