Why don't you just save the cash, and while you are saving up (can't take that long, couple months perhaps?) Run the stock ones, if they bend you might need to find a way to order them sooner, but if they don't just don't run them permanently because they probably won't hold up.

If you are low on funds I would return the 22mm rsb and drop in the 19mm rsb/bushings. The money spent on the 19mm upgrade is better than the strut tower brace with the OEM 16mm rsb.

19mm rsb/no brace > 16mm/tower brace

19mm rsb/no brace > 16mm/tower brace

My whiteline bar came with sway bar braces that attach to the control arm mounting point and the sway bar mount. Do these help at all, and should I even use them? They also don't have any collars or brackets to prevent lateral movement. I've seen collars online that prevent this kind of movement, is this a good idea or overkill?

Hmmm, this is interesting. I thought the connections between the RSB, end links, and control arms were meant to articulate. As I recall when I installed my RSB onto the stock end links, there were bushings that allowed the assembly some freedom to move laterally, by design.

Just guessing, but I would think that restricting that movement with extra bracing would make an even stronger case for installing aftermarket end links that are beefier than the stock end links.

Apparently it works from what I hear but allows for flex. The 19mm sti rear sway has some collars on it that fit inside the bushings and keep it aligned, preventing lateral movement. This is all very new to me. I know the perrin rear sway has built in collars.

OK.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I have to ask:

When and where do you drive that you need such a neutral-to-oversteering configuration? Do you drift your car on public roads? Are you risking your safety and the safety of others? You sound like you're not swimming in money. Are you aware that by driving in a way that would reveal the neutral/oversteer you so desperately desire, you're not only consuming more gas, but wearing out your tires (and probably other components) more quickly?

It's your money to spend as you wish. The safety thing is actually the bigger concern of mine. I like taking some turns fast too. But I suspect what I call "fast" is at a much lower level than what you call "fast". I've never even made my tires squeal.

I guess I'm just a 50-year-old fart. I'll shut up now and mind my own business.

I don't think this car can drift hahaha. Trust me I'm aware of the risk of taking turns fast on public roads. Mostly it comes down to the fact that I would like to minimize body roll, and I grew up driving cars with massive understeer, so I kind of have a phobia of it. I've taken a good few turns at a pretty high rate, but I'm fully aware of when and where to do it, so as not to put my safety and that of others at risk. It's more from a performance feel and peace of mind perspective than the idea that I would actually push the car that far anywhere that wasn't pretty much clear of people and safe. I'm fully aware of the danger, like most of us I used to be a stupid teenager, but now I know where to drive quietly and where to make some noise (far away from everyone else). If it's safety you are concerned with, you needn't worry, I play it safe these days.

...clearly.

I think youre over thinking it. Just buy what you want when you get the money. The car drives just fine either way.

So I'm really struck between returning this sway bar for the perrin alternative that costs $40 less or just using the whiteline option. The whiteline option doesn't come with collars to prevent lateral movement (as I mentioned above), but the perrin has them built in. Has anyone had any experience with whether this even matters on a typical road car? Do these have a lot of lateral play in them or is that only something to worry about on an actual track?

Track is the only place I would worry

Screw that! The new WRX is sedan only. I do too much loading/unloading from my hatch to go to a trunk. That, and I'm a sucker for going the unique route, regardless of whether its cost-effective or not.

If/when I do this, it'd be at least 4-5 years down the road. By then, maybe Subaru will have the WRX in a hatch again. For now, I love how my car looks and wouldn't be interested in trading it for anything.

Well, I've had the exhaust on for a week or so and I've got no complaints! I got my performance back up, my ground clearance is back, the car is still turning heads (Got a wave from two kids in a Civic with Florida Plates?), and it's really become my car.

Next for the Exhaust is the Exhaust tips. I did some research and looked around at different options. I decided to go with the "quad tips" look... seeing as how I was spoiled when I had the SPT on there. I just couldn't bring myself to go with a single tip on each end, so I searched for a high-quality double-wall tip that would mimic the look I had before. I settled on Red Tail Performance.

They're staggered, look fantastic, and from what I was able to tell, professionally built. The measurements work out great too, as there will still be a slight "reveal" out of the bumper for these. I'll be re-cutting the bumper and using the same Door Edge Guard material I had used before to finish the edges out.

After that's all done, I've still got side skirts and Rally Armors to install.

So I got my foglight overlays, but I'm not sure how to remove the foglight bezels. I'm sure others here have done it, anyone know how to remove them without breaking anything? I kind of wanted to plastidip the chrome too while I was at it.

Are the stock endlinks on this car the same as are used on the sti/wrx? They look the same to me but I can't really compare them side by side.

Just noticed a small crack in my front bumper, lower left hand side on the bottom. It isn't huge, but now that I noticed it, I'm going to see it all of the time now

Is there anything I can do to minimize the appearance of the crack? I'll try to get a picture of it for a better look.

Edit: here's the crack:

Prob no way to make it disappear. Maybe try pushing both sides from behind if you can, it may reduce the overlapped sides to a hairline crack.

Other then that, put a band-aid on it. lol

go buy a bumper repair kit and fix it from the inside, once you are done with that clean it up with some touch up paint. i did a fix like that on our jetta and it lasted over 3 years
