Weapon R Secret Weapon, Cosmoracing, and Injen all make good intakes. They all have their plusses and minuses. Weapon R has a foam filter, Cosmo has 3 vaccum tubes, Injen has only 2 but superior R&D etc... IMHO I believe all will perform almost the same on our 2.5s. In other words I believe we would see similar gains off of each brand for CAI, SRI';s on a dyno... Unless you fully modding the car with cams, tune, etc., then I think it doesnt matter much at all; but in that case i would go with Injen as they have more research behind their products where others like cosmo just copy them but that may just be peace of mind..
Once again i will say I believe that the only differences we would notice is the sound on each brand might be slightly different. Just remember we are talking about a peice of metal tube with a filter on the end. Its not like choosing between what kind of turbo to put on your car. The prices vary: Weapon R SRI around $225 shipped. Cosmo SRI around $100 shipped. Cosmo CAI around $125 shipped IIRC Injen CAI around $210 shipped. That info is what i based my decision on based on my own experince with injen, and cosmo and what reviews i have read on NASIOC. Matt |

+1 to matt's response. I have the Weapon R secret weapon. I like it but i have little to compare it to. It has a nice tone, and its pretty damn loud above 4500rpm which i could do without. But it sounds real nice under medium throttle @ lower/mid rpms. I think there are a couple vids on you tube of a 2007 2.5i with the Weapon R. I would check that out before you buy. The build quality was very good except for one detail. the venturi was attached with blind rivets. i replaced mine with solid rivets because im anal and use solid rivits over blind (pop rivets) being an aircraft mechanic. but im pretty sure the rivets they come with are plenty adequate. Otherwise the rubber seemed to be good quailty and the hardware was all stainless. nothing beats stainless hardware. I noticed a gain on the high end and MAYBE some midrange. maybe a slight loss below 2000 rpm but i dunno. Its hard to tell without dyno compare. And you really should have an ECU tune done after to correct the scaling and take advantage of the new intake properties.. then you will notice better gains. Im waiting for my headers and header back system to do a tune. Here are some pics of my intake. Note that the weapon R does not come with the cold air box, thats fabd up by me.

I ordered mine from a regular retail site. I think I just searched it on Google or went to Weapon-R's website and found an online dealer. I think it was JC Whitney?

Which ever one you decide to buy, it's going to do the same thing... make it louder!
I have a Injen CAI only because I bought it extremely cheap. I would never pay $200 or + for an intake on a RS/L model. You really are better off making it yourself. |

You are not the first to say that. I did post the templates in an older thread called "SRI cold air box" or something of that nature so people could make their own since many of the SRI's have a similar filter location. Im not going to make a $ on that without a stamping press and dies made and all that. Just hope at least one person might try it and like it as much as I do.

Something to note: I dont think this cold air box template will fit for the cosmoracing SRI,unless you modify it with extra pipe, only the Weapon R. The cosmoracing SRI places the filter in a slightly diff spot im almost positive. I have it and i think mine is a bit closer to the engine where as the weapon R pic that RaceFace posted shows the filter tucked right next to the fender wall. |

But seriously, if you're thinking about what i think you're thinking, then take a look at the threads on here about the good ol' "Tornado" product of which im sure you may be familiar. Theres plently of heated debate over weather (whether? wedder?) or not they actually do anything. |

I have a TWE header but im waiting on my stromung stuff to complete my exhaust before i install it so currently im stock on the exhale side.
and Evo, yeah the tornado is all about causing turbulence to get better air/fuel vapor mixing from what i understood. if it was intended to create a acceleration to the intake air charge, i was not aware. sure as **** not gonna do any research though. :-) VG's will create more useful load and better climb rates at the Vx airspeed... oh wait thats airplane stuff. :-) And get some real big ones so you can go way back in time and have some real fun! |
