i know about manifold swaps but for the price of all of that and your still have to buy a bigger TMIC and it just doesnt seem worth the money. im looking into a Turbo XS FMIC for my 08. but im just wondering about what you ment when you said "affordable bolt on upgrade" ,i guess you mean a new LGT style turbo
but id like more info that way i dont spend alot of money on something then a month later something new come down the pipeline to get me to the same power lever for less. i heard rumors of a LGT fitment 68hta from FP but im not holding my breath |

Yeah there is a turbo coming out for 08+/lgt fitment. I dont want to go into a whole lot of details and derail the thread, and I also dont have it yet. Trust me, when I get it, there will be a post letting everyone know.

Stay on topic haha.
I've been dealing with this 08+ turbo flange for 4 yrs now as my last car was an 05 Legacy. What are your power goals? When you really break it down (in most cases) to reach those power goals you are going to have to upgrade fuel, turbo, and intercooler. Simply getting a manufacturer to make a turbo flanged for the stock intercooler isn't the solution..you will pay a premium for it and still be restricted by the lack of volume your stock intercooler will handle. Check out these threads http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119177 and http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112489. There are dozens from the past 4 yrs over there regarding the flange, supposed new turbo options etc. and please leave this thread to the subject of Kamak turbo I've been in the hospital so my set up with my Kamak 18g is not yet complete |

Been out of this thread for awhile, the company I worked for folded on the 16th of September but now I am employed again. Has anyone tried the TD06-SL2? The only thing I don't like about the 25G is that it is oil cooled only (but that may be better and less taxing on the cooling system, just add an oil cooler and TT).
Ideas? |

oil cooled only? check another MFG, kando and kinugawa both had the 25g as water and oil cooled CHRAs.... 25g though I have only seen as a 3" inlet. dunno if it matters to you or not.
Kando said they are machiening a new 20g comp cover so that it can accept a 60-1 comp wheel on the Td06sl2 8cm turbine. Granted I have not gotten mine yet... my clutch went out before I was able to grab the turbo, so I need to get that taken care of first... but I am looking to grab my turbo (either kinugawa or kando... kamak seems to have closed its doors for their own sales) early december I think. It is a tad more pay and last time I contracted there they offered a perm position to me. I am working with the same team so I expect they will do the same. It is a large well known company that has stability unlike the startup I was at. So money worries are really no more.

Hahaha, it seems like EVERYONE in different parts of the country are replying to my threads commenting on Ft. Leonard Wood... You know the ironic part of it all... There are ATLEAST 6 other STi's here on base with me and none of them post on NASIOC and only one of them waves back at me when I wave ... I just can't wait to get back to NC... Two more weeks and I'm outta here!

Gabe: This one is a touch cheaper and the same thing...
seems like ALL the kinugawa store items are less then kando... just a touch more shipping, but even still its less then the total sale of the kando alternative.... T |

3,000 miles and going really well but still only running 8psi. I finished up the exhaust yesterday so she should be finished getting tuned sometime next week..... The only issue I have had is the wastegate arm is held to the actuator with a small cotter pin. I know I put it on there when I installed it and bent back the "arms" so it wouldn't fall out......it did and did so shortly after install.
Needless to say the pin has been replaced with something better |

The wastegate arm should have a channel for a circlip. If you don't have the corect diameter circlip, buy a kit frm pep boys, for like $6, with misc diameters.
Keep in mind that normal operation for the turbine housing (and therefore the wastegate arm) sees this housing heating up not to red hot, but to yellow hot.... |
