Waiting on a catted version as well (Although given the price point for your catless product, I guess we'd be looking at a $700+ downpipe? ).
Take a look at the MadDad Metal V2 catted if you need inspiration. |

Cobb Tuning - Catted down pipe, argued to be one of the best catted units out there, $595.
Daddy's SCP (MadDad) $549 - Bellmouth with cat $579 - Divorced Wastegate (v2) with cat $500 for an uncatted downpipe? Something is not right. Did I time warp back to 2002, when all you could get were Vishnu/TurboXS/JDM pipes for $500-$800? I'm all for a sexy pipe, and your unit is damn fine. But that price needs a market adjustment, or your manufacturing costs have to come down. e.g. the flange if laser cut is just fine if it seals flat vs a "cnc cut," unit. |

Oh you may want to start an internal or even external list of turbos that work with your downpipe. I've had a two different divorced downpipes and 4 turbos, and none of them fit from the beginning. All had to have the divider ground down or trimmed, or a corner rounded more...

I appreciate your concern and feedback. Other than the fact that we went top quality on all of the finishes(complete CNC milled flanges with contour, brushed finish piping, etc) the biggest thing at play here for our costs is simply the fact that our downpipe is completely made in the USA(something you generally, as a rule, can't say for most "top quality" pipes out there...at least as far as I have found in my research). Basically we are taking the chance that the Subaru guys as a whole will support an American made pipe and the costs associated. We could at some point add a "still made in the USA" pipe but cut back on some of the things like you described which could bring the price down. Justin |

^^Agreed! My Cobb down pipe is in great shape, but I'm seriously considering selling off the Cobb downpipe, at a loss, to pick up this. Damn it, Grimmspeed, I told myself I wasn't messing with my exhaust again unless I go rotated. You're really messing with my plans. Great looking pipes though, I'm sure you'll have an easy time moving these.
Are these available with coated, in the GB? What would it cost to order one with your coating? |

Also, what's the time line on your TMIC (for GD)? I saw your R&D test car thread on the MNSubaru site, recruiting TMIC testers and was wondering if you could tip your hand and let us know how that is coming along.

Its a nice looking product but I think you're a day late and a dollar short, or in this case 10 years late and 500 dollars short. The bug eye is a decade old and becoming so affordable that Honda ricers are now picking them up and throwing every eBay part on it that they can. You may want to bite the bullet on this and sell off what you have and put all your time and effort into designing and fabricating a downpipe for the 08+. Those cars are still over $20,000 so you can bet that theres more buyers along that road.
Food for thought |

Besides, the new one is what, 4" longer at the end? OMG AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT JIG MUST BE MADE! (serious sarcasm for those of you who could not catch that...) I enjoy and will pay for quality parts, regardless of the fact that my cars are older (not 08+ like the previous person posted). Had I not already had two PDE pipes for my cars, I would pick this up if I knew I could get it at the lowest tier, and it wasn't Christmas in 4 weeks... |

Yeah I have several Grimmspeed products and really want to pick it up but I don't know if I could sleep at night being so close to christmas. Might still hop on who knows
GL with the group buy either way, nobody can deny that it's obviously a terrific product! |

What advantages does this have over an open mouth dp? Does adding that divider plate and another tube increase exhaust efficiency over standered tappered bell mouth?

Openmouth allows wastegate gases to mix too early and can cause back pressure against the turbine. A properly measured and installed divider plate gets rid of the threat of the minor lag that you'd see from a non divorced setup. Not a huge deal unless your moving a larger amount of air over stock setups and then you'd be better off with an external wastegate.

$499 is a competitive price. Divorced eh; lag is NOMINAL and wouldn't make much of a noticeable difference IMO. 321 stainless would be cool! Just cause somethings made in the U.S. doesn't' always mean it's better...I'm sure over-seas takes pride in their work. I mean c'mon we're drivin' Subarus

I think the proof is in the pudding. Group buy is over in a few hours and no bites yet plenty of interest in an 08+ version. I hope there is one available by spring, accompanied by a similar group buy with coating option.
