Default 3bar Map and IAT sensor install location for SD

Sensor wise I am going with an OMNI 3 bar map and a GM open element IAT.

Car is currently stock, I am going stg 2 and getting the MAF tune stable. Gather my data and then convert over to SD.

I was wondering where you SD peeps have been installing your MAP sensor and IAT sensors. I read some of the ideas over in the thread on romraider. Anyone have photos of where you installed them exactly? Pros/cons of your location? Heat soak issues?

Omni is a little iffy on the 16 bit platform, something with the grounds. I'm using a Zeitronix, which is the same as AEM.

Still on stock IAT, but most are putting it in the intake manifold. Bast is to use it with a plastic bushing so you isolate from heat soak. Near the PCV is a popular place. The T1 race development IAT is the same calibration, but 1/8 NPT. More expensive, but easier to get where you want it.

MAP goes in the stock location on the throttle body. IAT is up to you, personally I'm running the stock IAT in blow-through a couple of feet from the TB on my SD setup.

couple of feet from the throttle body okay. Do you have a front mount? Thanks

As long as it's after the intercooler and isn't in a position that's prone to heat soak, it doesn't really matter. I would ONLY put it in the manifold if you're running phenolic spacers to keep heat soak down.

Where can you get the plastic bushings you speak of? I have the T1 iat sensor in my manifold but am not running it yet. I been wondering where too find something like that...

Time for google...

I have fairly thick phenolic spacers and put it in my manifold specifically to test this and I wouldn't recommend it again. The temperature readings aren't insanely high, but still elevated. At least in my mounting location (the plenum) the update rate was fairly poor, I would only see about a 6* rise at 20 psi from 3400 rpm (where it hit 20 psi) to 8500. I would expect more than that on an HTA Green and a longer pull.

Most of the time the sensor was reading 30-40* over ambient and during driving was a fairly consistent 20* over ambient.

I'm running a front mount and I had it in the piping directly before the throttle body as that is a more accurate representation of the temp of the air. As the suicidal eggroll said as long as it's past the IC it's going to be much better than the stock location and much better for SD.
