Default a whistle at 1st or second gear at 3-4k rpm!!

can anybody tell me why it does that on a N/A engine? i wanna make sure that it not someting serious or i wanna to know what it is so i can fix the problem. the whistle doesnt come everytime i go at high rpm. its like 40-50% of the times. please help!!!!

better than my rattle from the tranny linkage at 4200 rpm.

The 2.5 RS sometimes whistles from the exhaust, it's perfectly normal from what I understand.

It should be there at all gears around that RPM, it has something to do with the exhaust.

Change the axleback and it'll be gone.

My friend also had a whine on his 95 Impreza L 1.8li when he put his intake on. Had something to do with the throttle body......

My 95 legacy wagon sounds like its turbo the whistle is that loud. Do you have a WRX muffler? There is a hole that makes the whistling. My legacy's noise is coming from under the hood. It is somewhat common problem that no one really knows where it comes from.

My wifes 99 2.2L Impreza L has it when higher RPM and loaded (what usually happens when I drive) due to an exhaust gasket leak.

Light loads you don't hear it.
