A Spyshot near Detroit - Cadillac CTS 08'? 09'?

I snapped these pictures a few weeks ago while driving around Detroit. At first I thought this may be a facelifted Cadillac CTS ... but note the right-hand drive. Perhaps this one's for Europe? Is it an Opel??

Looks exactly like the '08 redesigned CTS:

it was announced a couple of months ago.

And I bet if you had gotten these a couple of months ago, you could have gotten good $ for the spyshots.

It is an 08 CTS... except... it's also a hardtop convertible. good find... send it to priddy and get a couple of bucks

errr....a 4 door hard top conv? and as for it being RHD, caddy has been making a push into europe, hence the europe only BLS (saab 9-3)

First look for the obvious- performance upgrades... next look at what is trying to be hidden... in this case... the rear wears the bulk of the disguise.

why it's a 4 door i don't know... but convertibles are a major part of GM's European product push... so that fits the car. There are tell-tale signs this is a convertible. The cut in the roof, and the superimposed trim on top of the wrap (probably to cover up the depression in the wrap). depending on who makes the mechanism... all of the other signs could be easily hidden under the rest of the camo.

Caddy is trying to push hard into Europe, but also Asia - specifically China. Caddy's current lineup is strong, but does lack in certain aspects... this new CTS seems to be up to the level that more discerning markets would actually be willing to accent it. RHD for Europe (UK) or Japan with this car wouldn't be out of the question... just the fact that they are willing to do a RHD version is telling that they are serious.

I remember back in the 80's GM was trying to dump their crappy cars into Japan without even bothering to make a RHD version... not to surprisingly there were very, very few takers.

It would be pretty shocking if this was indeed a 4-door convertible.

who knows how close to production or what exactly it is. using normal cts doors would be good camo... i guess we'll see in the future.

LHD isn't the reason they didn't sell. LHD is considered cool in Japan. Most people who buy German cars in Japan usually order them LHD.

American cars in general, even now, have very few takers in Japan. The only American cars that sell well are cars that aren't even officially on sale in Japan....such as the H2 and Escalade. Importers are making a killing off these cars.

As for the American-made cars that are officially on sale in Japan....they are all still LHD. Saturn was the only brand that sold them RHD. The only RHD American-branded cars in Japan are the European Fords and European GM cars, and Japanese rebadged Chevys. Chrysler cars are the only ones that are RHD, but as of right now only the 300C, PT Cruiser, Caravan, and Crossfire are sold in Japan.

The Trailblazer is the only Chevy officially sold in Japan, and it's not RHD.
