Default Anyone using the speedo cable on their WRX swap?

Just wondering if anyone is using the speedo cable instead of the VSS. I'm trying to see if the ECU is dependent on the VSS to receive inputs from to calculate various engine settings besides the speed...

Anyone using the older style tranny without VSS(vehicle speed sensor)?

The mechanical systems have the cable that goes to the gauge cluster. From there, it is converted into the needed voltage signal and outputted and passed to the ECU where it can do its thing with it.

A swap should work by simply tapping off the gauge cluster and retaining the mechanical speedo.

I believe HomemadeWRX did this.

I'll be going to the VSS setup for mine.
