This car has BIG tube headers, BIG tube intake manifold, BIG header ports and BIG cams and BIG 6466 which all hurt midrange and low end and help top end. So that is what the car has. Top end power and no midrange power. However, At 22 psi, I think that is a pretty good number.
This ^^ I built the car for top end power with no regard to drivability. Daily driving is what the Sentra is for.

I built the car for drag racing, but would like to eventually set it up for time attack or hill climb.

That's the goal. Hopefully we'll see each other there!

I actually came out there once like two months ago.

Nice, which bearings are you running? Std hx on the rods? Those cams go good to like 9500rpm iirc. Deff a drag cam could use slightly more lift less duration but its a off the shelf cam so.

Like to see the car on c16 if he keeps a single pump.

These are the newer S3s which are already like 11.5mm of lift. I will be doing the second pump in the future so I probably won't waste time on a c16 tune.

I honestly couldn't even tell you when they came out. I had a set of the original S3s that were defective and ground themselves down. The ones they were replaced with had more lift.

Oh cool did they do the same with the s2? You didn't mention your bearing clearances. Just curious since your spinning to 8k an I'm sure plans for 9k?

I think the S3s were the only cams to receive an update.

Honestly I'm not sure what they clearanced the bearings at. I can ask them. I don't really think I would run it past 8.5k.

Sick car and fantastic results for such low boost. Obviously the parts listed above help with the upper rpm power.

Do you think perhaps some things are too "big"? Flow is great but I would think there is a point where you're just slowing the exhaust pulses down while no longer making gains (referring to the exhaust manifold specifically). Also I would think the GSC S3 cams would be for an application expected to rev beyond 9k? Do you think some S2's would lose much power compared to the S3's at this rpm and power level?

Obviously if the OP is perfectly happy none of this really matters. Again the car is sick and can't argue with a 650whp Subaru. I'm just wondering if the power band can be widened while not losing too much in the top end with a different cam selection and/or maybe exhaust manifold.

A wider power band will not help drag times. This car needs an external oil pump so the engine can be tuned to higher rpm.

That's the same question that i have. I have a 650 whp 2jz Supra and the power comes on around 4000 rpm (full boost at 4500) but it tachs out at 8000.
I found that car to be a struggle to drive around town since it doesn't have much bottom end, how do you cope with this with your ride?

Thanks for the response Clark. I agree top-end power will get you though the traps quicker and faster. I personally think a little midrange will help get it off the line and sustain boost between shifts. I didn't realize this was a drag purpose build.

Can't wait to see more oil pressure, 8500rpms and some slips!

I was looking to make top end power exclusively. I have the Sentra as a daily for that reason so I do not have to worry about sacrifices. Any sacrifice to top end power is not worth the sacrifice. It actually feels pretty nice driving around on the street.

I plan to make more power in the future.

^^ This along with a second fuel pump and A1000 FPR

It really is not all that bad. I think it has really good street manners compared to a lot of other high HP cars I have driven. I attribute this mainly to Clarks tuning ability.

It is not necessarily a drag specific built, but I do enjoy the drag racing aspects more so than anything else. I currently launch the car at 7k rpm so I do not think I am really losing any 60 foot time from lack of power. If anything, I am having a hard time with traction. I spin a lot in first and partway into second. Along with the external oil pump, I will be doing drag radials.

I'd do the Leggy spec b gears if you're going to upgrade with all of your power. I'm sure Fuji will agree with that!

That is the right answer! We recommend that to all of our customers who are wanting to be a street beast. We run that gear set in the "bullet." Run that 4th gear out to 9000rpms!
