Went out for a little today and tried to do some different things but the light was giving me trouble. Here's one for now. I'll put some more up later if I find any keepers. Thoughts?

Watch the grass and the building overhang. Causes a nasty reflection going through your windshield.

I believe the grass was done on purpose, cool effect.

Yes it was done on purpose. I was just playing around and I actually kind of like it. It's a little distracting but I can live with it.

Here's another one that is completely different than my usual stuff. This was shot facing the sun which usually is a big no no. I really like this one although I feel it won't be for everyone.

I like how shooting against the sun makes like a backlight effect on the subject.

Agreed. I also love the colors I got out of this. Which were enhanced slightly but not crazy.

I went for a dark doom and gloom type feel on this shot

There's a little something about it that's off. Maybe if it was b&w with a bump in contrast it would be nice

Here are a couple more from the other night . . . .
I am well aware of all of the flaws in each of them, but feel free to point them out to me anyway. Already got a list of what to do differently in the future, different ideas to try. |

Would it make sense if I said that the front right side of your car (left side of the photo) seems visually heavier than the left side of the car? Its a nice photo, but like happycorey said, there's something a little bit off. Not sure if that is it or not though. Trying to be constructive, not sure if this is helping though. :\

I'm well aware of how tough it is to shoot black cars. Especially how they tend to "absorb" all the light flashed at them. So my friend gave me a tip: "Instead of flashing the car, you flash everything else around it." This was my first attempt of shooting a black car and imo, it turned out a whole lot better than I thought.

There was a building on the passenger side of the car so that's why it's darker and the sun was coming from the drivers front. I think that's what is throwing it off?

Oh sorry. Lol. I hate when that happens. I'll take a look at that one again. Like I said I shot into the bright ass sun so I didn't know what I was going to get!

I did some photos once in a square cement tunnel under a highway and bounced the light off of the walls and ceiling and got some great results. Would love to go back and do shoots there regularly. |
