Default Buying new tires, stock rims- how drastic can I change tires?

So, I know my "stock" size is P205/55/16.
My wheels are oem,

Saab 9-2X Aero 16" wheel
Size: 16x6.5"
Offset: +53
Bolt pattern: 5x100
Wheel Weight: 16.5 pounds (verify)
OEM-equipped tire size: 205/55R16

------------------

I'm seeking your guys opinions if I should change the stock tire size to something else-- such as P195/P210,or perhaps P205/60/16 or P205/50/16.

Location: Florida, year round!
Worst is rain.

What would you guys say?

Depends on what your priorities are... fuel economy? cornering?

Unless you have a clear reason for running a different tire size, I'd say stick with stock.

Well, I found a great deal onsome new bridgestone torenzas! switched around, P195/60/R16.

I've found no difference in ride quality so far. Price installed for four new was $350.

speedometer would read 1mph slower, not a big deal.

A little late.....but, my 1998 Legacy came with 205/55-16's, I "upped" the size to 225/50-16.
Tire diameter is almost exact to stock.
Inner sidewall is within ~1/8" of the strut.
I don't think I can go any bigger.

PS, these are on 1999 Impreza RS 16 x 7" rims (in place of stock 16 x 6.5" rims).
