I had smoke randomly for a long time and after lots of research and investigating I realized I needed a catch can, oil was all in my intercooler and after it got a little warm sitting at lights or just idling and would smoke, did a diy catch can and haven't had smoke since, could be the same thing

I agree. But you dont have just 8500 miles. Ive seen too many posts in engine failure threads with SOA replaced my first stock 08+ sti motor at 8000 miles. Do pop thd hose off the intercooler from the turbo and check for oil in the ic. Some is very normal. A lot is not. A leakdown and compression test at the dealer should give better insight.

This is making me nervous, installed ap @ 7000 miles (8000 now)... No drivetrain warranty now.

Mine blows a tiny amount of white first thing in the morning, but I've assumed it's just condensation (especially given weather lately). I haven't had a compression or leak down, but I did baseline dyno in a healthy range prior to installing ap.

I'm getting clean logs daily (<1.5 feedback and learned while cruising but mostly 0, always 0 @ WOT).. Hopefully she's not starting to let go.

I'm not going to worry about it until someone other than me looks at it. Not something worth worrying about until you know for sure. If there is cause for concern, it will get handled and the car sold on.

Unmarry ap. Drive 100 miles, take it to the dealer and have them check it out. They wont be able to tell it was flashed, just that the ecu was reset.

Back in action. Right front wheel bearing went, and discovered the hub was ****ed. Of course car is on jackstands in driveway.

Bought '04 Sti JDM left and right front knuckles with hubs with 50k miles for $150: deal!! Waited two weeks for them to arrive from Canada and listen to wife complain about car on jackstands in driveway.

Installed yesterday, car is (almost) whole once more. Next project is paint and replace front fascia.

Were we eating TH??? Someplace near Hull/Midlothian and 288 our side of town. All us south siders come on.

Populates the ecus learned perameters. It takes abouf 90 miles usually. Yhat way they wont see it as reset jyst before you came in due to scan data reading n/a on all the emmisions tables. It also gives subaru to much data to sift through to determine if the ecu was flashed recently.

Remove panties from wad. No one is committing any fraud or pretending that cars don't sometimes just have issues. It's mechanical. I was just wondering what mileage would have to do with the ECU.

It's sounds like the guy in that thread is going through the necessary process and being pretty cool about it. How many people had to die before GM accnowledged a recall was necessary? Now they're facing criminal charges. How many motor issues have to occur before Subaru will accnowledge its own recall? Must be at least one more.

No worries, I'm not reflashing just so they can look at car. It's been flashed, my responsibility now. Legalities aside, the flash means I'm running more boost and different parameters, it could ethically be my fault for that reason too. If anything is wrong at all.

Besides, I've seen how a few subarus looked under hood after dealerships worked on them, even if it did have warranty I'd rather drive one of my other cars and take my time repairing it right. I've bought 3 new subarus in the last decade and I have never let a dealership turn a wrench on any of them for a reason.

My bigger concern is whether I should garage it til I have time for a leakdown/compression test. Would rather catch a problem while it's small.

How much are you people willing to pay for a compression test?

Whoa. Slow down there...lol.

Then why should you have to unmarry the accessport then? Why would you have to hide the fact there was one?

This concern has absolutely NOTHING to do with the GM recalls. How could you even come up with that

The problem I have is there are people who have legitimate warranty issues that are getting denied because the manufacturer has had to pay out on bogus warranty claims. Plus I feel that if the customer is honest with me, then I owe them to be honest back and do what I can to help them with the manufacture.

I don't have an accessport so I have nothing to remove. That was another gentleman on here. If your profession is working at a dealership, and you take pride in your work then good for you. Many others in your profession do not. A few bad apples...

Honesty would be imperative but dealerships have their reputations and punk kids that screw with brand new autos have theirs. I am neither. I hope they entice you to come back to a subaru dealership sometime because it would be nice having someone honest with which to deal.

I wasn't referring about your vehicle. I made the comment in general in regards to your reply about him removing the accessport in regards to potential warranty work.

Yes I work as a Service Manager in the industry and also was the Service Advisor at Pence a few years ago. I also do take pride in my work and do my best to take care of my customers. That is why some with Subaru';s still come to me with them 4 years after I left. I always felt if you are honest with me, I will help you the best I can modded or not. You lie and try to hide stuff from me(chances are I noticed your car at the meets anyways), I will not go to bat for you with the SOA Rep. I can honestly say when I worked at Pence, there were very very few cars that had their repairs denied.

Yes dealers have that reputation, but I have seen it just as bad with independent shops as well. All it takes is one person and then everyone assumes the worst with everything. It happens in the Industry as a whole.
Maybe one day I will return to a Subaru dealer. I know the SOA Rep I am friends with would like for me to return to one. I know some of the people at Pence wish I never left, but that's over and done with. It is what it is.
