Hey All,
Just new to the NASIOC and new to the Subaru ownership.
I recently purchased a 2014 Impreza 2.0 Sedan in Quartz Blue Pearl and love it on the snow covered roads! Looking to do some mods over the next while but wondering if Cold Air Intake or Exhaust modifications would void warranty? Any thoughts out there?

Hi and welcome! To answer your question about warranty, the simple answer is yes but it's likely up to the dealer. As long as you only do the muffler you should be OK. As far as CAI don't waste your money as you will gain nothing from that mod on your engine.

Thanks Sir_Xenon, After looking through some of the threads here it would seem the best mod for the buck would be a throttle mapping tune through the ecm. The gains for a CAI seem to be pretty minimal if you don't have Turbo. I will skip that one but probably go for the muffler since it (possibly) won't void the warranty and I'll get a better note from the exhaust. Thinking I won't be able to do the tune until warranty period is over anyhow. Guess for now will just toss in a K&N filter and muffler, maybe some aesthetic mods.

Just got my Vintage Gold Plasti Dip delivered today, can't wait to dip my stock wheels. Unfortunately I may have to wait until the spring when the weather warms up as I don't have a heated garage.

Hey twistedwires,

I'm in winnipeg... Unfortunatly, moved here from Victoria BC a couple years ago.

Jimpreza111: that would look sweet, thinking of a black dip here... I actually think my impreza looks better with the winter black wheels.

Thinking of getting the levelling kit too.. gotta mod so I don't get lost in manitoba potholes! LOL

Well I dipped my rims over the weekend. Started with the passenger side, they came out okay but a couple of runs. The cleanup of the over spray on the tires was ridiculous. Learned a few lessons that's for sure. Sunday was the drivers side and they came out fantastic! Will take a couple of pics and post, once I read how to post pics.lol.

Sorry for the novel but thought I'd share my experience with the plasti dip process.
I just dipped my OEM wheels on my 14 Impreza Sedan. I started with the passenger side by masking off only the fenders, rotors and calipers. After 4-5 coats of Vintage gold I thought it would be good, lighting in my garage sucks... Clean up of my tires was ridiculous, lots of little over spray that was very hard to remove. Used WD40 and a golf club wire brush to get all the little bits out of the ribbed contours of the sidewalls. Learned a few lessons:
1) Mask the tires approx 1/2" - 1" from rim
2) Go extremely light on your first 2-3 coats, especially in a cold garage. Also, never start spraying on the piece you are working on. Press the nozzle while pointed off to the side of the piece on all passes and make smooth sweeps across it or else you'll get spatter/bubbling/runs.
3) Make sure to apply a good spray around the edge where the tire meets the rim on every coat you make.
4) When working in a cold garage I would put a space heater directed at the wheel I just finished spraying in order to help the plasti dip "bake" to the wheel.
5) Patience, I had to do about 6-7 light coats (moving the vehicle forward a few feet in between coats 4-5) to be able to see the nooks and crannies you may have missed.
6) Ensure you have decent lighting in your work space.

When my final coat on the drivers side had dried, I removed the masking and was left with a sharp edge on the tire which I could just peel right off. The second attempt came out great and I will snap some pics once I can clean the winter road grime off my car. The attached pictures are of the passenger side (1st effort) before/after. I will be peeling and re-dipping that side of the car to get the same nice finish I got on the driver's side. Sorry for the picture quality, phone pics.

Living in Red Deer, Alberta at the moment, and I have a 2011 WRX Limited which I am loving.
Just have a few small mods like interior LEDS and what not but hoping to put on a rally bar, aftermarket lights, and some king springs and spacers to help deal with the big potholes out here.

I just picked up an 08 wrx for a steal because it has a cooked turbo. Anyone know of any junk yards that specialize in subaru parts? Can't seem to find a used turbo very easily. Just a stock TD04L is all i'm looking for.
