Default 04 2.5 Forester motor in a 99 2.5 RS?

will a 2004 2.5 Forester motor (only) swap into a 1999 2.5 RS without changing anything???

dose it need the 04 ECU?

wiring harness?

will it bolt up to the 99's tranny?

Thanx,

~Killian

Use your intake manifold and the attached wiring harness and you will be fine. You don't need the '04 ECU or anything else special. Just stick to your manifold and all of the attached sensors and you'll be fine. In short, just use the Forester longblock...

awesome thanx for the info. someone said something about the AVCS system...

"And as long as there isn't a significant difference between the heads (don't remember when the Forester got AVCS) and the sensors on them are the same, then, yeah, should be plug and play. And even if the heads are different, you could reuse your old heads, if they're any good. But if the Forester engine has the AVCS, and you can't swap heads, then you would need the ECU, and that would mean harness merging"

dose anyone know if the 04 NA Foresters had that AVCS?

According this link:

http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forest...ester2004.html

They didn't get AVCS until 2006.
