Default Drive like I have carbs?

Why do I get faster acceleration when I roll on the throttle, as opposed to flooring it?

I have to drive it like it has carbs, every other fuel injected car I've driven would just allow you to just stomp on the gas.

I'm thinking it would be one of 2 thing's
1, My stock Cat's and midpipe are too restrictive, causing too much back pressure, but why would running at part throttle help this situation.
2, that car run excessively rich at WOT

I know it's is not the knock sensor as mine is all but disabled, and I see no activity from it.

My car is basically stock MY99 with CAI, and a Magnaflow rear section.

This characteristic is far more apparent in the higher gears.

when I had my AFC I did this 'test' thing where I would floor it at a certain speed in a certain gear. Then I would put the throttle 'gauge' on the afc on and see how much throttle I would need to equal a floored pull. ok, following? example: in second gear at about 3500 rpms, the throttle at I think 50 something % was equal to 100% throttle, however as the rpms climbed you would need more throttle to equal the 100%. I was really bored and wrote down the results somewhere, as my afc has long since been taken out of the sube. But that was when my car was stock and since the addition of high-flow cats, bigger exhaust, headers and an intake, the bogged flooring of the car no longer exists.

i noticed this too on my L....i am wondering what is keeping the engine from making power with all the fuel we give it...could it just be the intake??? exaust? blah...i notice at normal cruising speed giving it more throttle only generates more power for about 50% of pedal travel...it bothers me, that whole list of mods you said that made it go away costs big money...why should fuel injected cars do this anyway? is there a simple little quirk in subies we can fix to make it all better? bah....mabey i am in denial that its just airflow restriction...bigger exaust...better intake...fixed...your mod list would be a good place to start...heh

I have the same problem on my MY99 with borla headers, random tech cat, SS mid-pipe with stromsung dual-tip and exedy lightened flywheel. I think the ECU Maps for WOT are not aggressive enough since they are a fixed value correct? I shoul have a S-AFC waitnig for me when i get home and i will hvae it tuned on a 4-wheel dyno with a wide-band O2 sensor and i will be sure to post some numbers.

I get the same thing on my 02 2.5RS. It like takes a second or two (I don't count really) at WOT for the car to go. All I have is a GanzFlow Intake. The car seems like it has to go and find the correct rpm for it to go when you WOT. I also have an auto so its slower.

Ok well poppa smurf has ruled out the Exhaust as the cause.

I seriousley thinking of buying the Delta Dash OBDII scanner, so I can figure this one out.
I could allways be pulling timing at WOT also.
