Default Seriously thinking of unloading the Impreza.

Of course you guys have probably seen the problems I have had with my car. Rattling speaker grills (been replaced once, still rattle), oil pressure light (fixed - wiring problem), oil level light coming on between oil changes, A/C not working very well (system overfilled from factory - drained and refilled, better but still not good). None of these are deal breakers, but the A/C problem concerns me since it gets very hot here. I do wonder what problems will surface down the road as I have never had a car with this many problems so soon in its life.

I am going to the VW/Mazda/Subaru store after work to look at a turbo Beetle. Not really my first choice, but the $5,500.00 off they are giving me would certainly help with what I am losing on the Impreza. For the money, it seems like alot of car.

If I decide no on the Beetle, the Subie will probably end up being around for a while. If that is the case, I am going to contact Subaru and ask them if they would be willing to extend my warranty. Atleast I would have some peace of mind.

I will let you know what happens.

Sorry to hear of your issues. Wish you the best of luck..one question though. Even after saying that your A/C isn't working as well as it should after the draining of the fluid...the dealer still doesn't consider it an issue?

I'd take that issue to SOA if I were you.

Other then that, I can understand your parting with it. Update us depending on the car you get.

I agree, open a ticket/case with SBOA - and just be dilligent. As far as the Beetle - just MO - not sure of the prices you are dealing with and your financial sit ,, but I would go even with a base GTI over a turbo Beetle. More practical and proven platform. Of course I am biased, Love GTI's. Miss mine.

Its a shame you cant get it fixed but hey go for what makes you happy.

i wonder if its possible for you to hook up a gauge and see what the system is pressurized at. Not that its your problem but i would be curious. The extra R-134a refill cans have a gauge built onto them and can atleast tell you if its in the green.

She is gone. Picked this up last nite. Got a smoking deal. There is a $3,500 incentive on all remaining 12 Beetles. Dealer pitched in another $2,000. Got this for $19,600.

Vwgti, the GTI is sweet. There are quite a few 12s left too but there was only a $750 incentive. I needed something with more incentives to get out of the impreza.

The dealership I usually work with, camelback VW/Mazda/Subaru was great. They knew I was unhappy with the impress and offered to contact Subaru for some trade assistance if I wanted another Subaru. There just wasn't anything I wanted. Was considering a cross trek but I was afraid of running into the same issues. The Forrester is just too expensive.

Hell of a deal if that is a turbo beetle! The 2.0 powertrain on those is solid, same as the GTI. My neighbor spent 24K for a used non-turbo beetle convertible.....

It was a 12 sport limited w sunroof and 18k miles. Msrp was $25,200 and I gave $23,900 for it new. Two Subaru dealers told me its cash value was $20,000.

It is the turbo. Pretty much a base turbo. The only option it had was the xenon headlights w LED DRLs and 19 inch wheels which was a $1,000. They did have some turbos without that option but I thought it added some character. I know the 19s are not going to ride as well and will be much more expensive to replace, but the style of the 19s looks much better in my opinion.

A turbo with an msrp of $24,165 can be purchased right now for $18,665 which is a hell of a deal. This 2.0T is pretty smooth and quick. Smooth clutch and smooth transmission. I did a little research before buying and the only thing I found was problems with the windows going up. Early production models had some issues with anti pinch mechanism. VW issued a TSB which didn't work, and eventually had to do a recall. In the mean time they did have to buy some cars back because of it. The recall finally fixed the problem.

My car was produced 04/15/12 so the first thing I did was make sure the recall work had been done. And it had. Other than that I didn't really see anything else. Since this motor has been around a very long time and is used in many different cars, I hope the bugs have all been worked out. I did find it kind of interesting that this car car was sitting on the lot the whole time I owned the impreza.

Congrats on your purchase! The beetle isn't really my cup of tea, but I'm sure it's fun to drive with the turbo. I'm personally very interested in the next gen Mazda 3 as a replacement for my Impreza, which I also have been having issues with.

My friend has a 12 Speed 3 an really likes it. He has a company car so he doesnt drive it much. Just weekends. He said he may not like it as a daily driver.

I may do an ecu tune but not sure. I am told it will make a huge difference. Anyone know much about these or have an opinion?

So how long did you have the car before selling it? Just so I know in case I throw in the towel if need be :c

I saw 18k miles, and you lost not too much $$ so that's pretty good.

Nice car by the way! those wheels look huge..

Good luck with the Beetle. Nice looking car. I like the styling.

But don't do any post-purchase research about their reliability. No, really. Don't do it.

I hate to laugh at that, but I'm laughing.

More specifically, don't Google "volkswagen 2.0T oil consumption "
