Default Did japan get the 2.2 liter engine?

From all that I have read, japan had the 2.0l engine in the legacy with 130hp between 89-94.

Actually I have never seen an ej22 anything from japan, though that might be wrong.

The reason I ask is from these engine and tranny dealers. I dont trust most of them. They always say "low mileage, imported from japan." But how can you be sure? Id bet many of them come from american cars and are sold to people who dont know better.

Right now on ebay there is an ej22 from a 90-94 legacy for sale. Low miles and imported from japan, Im suspiscious

the EJ22 came in the following Legacies in Japan: BF7, BFB, BG7, and BGB. It appears that they're not using them in the new models, but I could be wrong. They also used a turbo'd version of the motor in the Impreza WRX STi 22B.

Most of the page is in Japanese, but the model and engine numbers should be legible.

i think the 22b uses a punched out ej20... not much in common with the ej22. very different block.

So you could get a first gen legacy with either the 2.0l or the 2.2l? How much HP did the 2.2 get in the japanese models? Im guessing 140?
