So, what is left to know?
We know the HP/Torque, engine displacement , amount of boost/turbo, the options, the looks, the weight, the price ...
What else don't we know?? I had complained about "not knowing enough" and getting "bored of the waiting" about a month ago. But now, I can't think of anything else I need to know (other then how I'm gonna pay for this thing) What else are we waiting on?

Modability. Can the ECU be tweaked to get more HP out of the thing. And if so when will the aftermarket have this stuff available.

1) How the seats compare to the Krispy Kreme Swimsuit Model seats of the 04 WRX.
2) We know the components, but don't really know about how they will translate to performance. 3) Is the shiftlight adjustable? Can it be turned off? If not, can at least the beep be turned off? 4) What will the non-gold wheels look like? 5) Will the paint be improved for '04? 6) The microsite shows blu carpet in the still shots, but charcola carpet in the 360 degree interior shot. Will there be and option? 7) It has been rumored that the Sti will have a couple more standard goodies that have not been advertised. 8) Does its computer really have a data logger of sorts such that a service man can access it and descover how you have been driving the ar? |

Pretty much all thats left is torque curve, dyno plots, actual acceration times that owners get, and how much power the engine and drivetrain can reliably take.
Oh and if the dealers will have sti floormats as an option or not Metoo the answer to 3. is yes its adjustable, but I dont know if it can be turned off. You could always set it as high as possible and not redline though. |

Gas mileage and insurance costs.
Those have been my two biggest concerns considering the vehicle would be my everyday car. |

If the Electronic throttle is calibrated correctly. Hope it doesn't feel like Audi (initial lag).

1. Will it have a spoiler "delete" option from the factory, or at least able down size to a WRX spoiler?
2. Will it have a factory boost gauge? |

I'd like to know whether DeltaDash and (more importantly) DeltaECU work with the USDM STi's ECU. If not, then we're back to the tuning Dark Ages (which is where WRX tuning was 2 years ago and where USDM EVO tuning is now), resorting to SAFC or piggyback and a boost controller.
I'd also like to know Subaru's designation for the STi engine and whether it differs from the engine in the new Forester XT and Baja Turbo. For example, the current USDM WRX engine is designated as EJ205 and the current Normally Aspirated 2.5 engine is designated as EJ251. |

If I were buying an STI I would want to know as much as I could about this new motor--quality/sophistication of parts, exact specs, whether it is of comparable quality with the 2 liter STI---I'd want to make sure it is not a dumbed down higher displacement motor. From what we have learned so far I think it looks real good, but it would be very helpful if there were a reputable race engine builder who could get ahold of one and tear it down as part of a project to tweak it, and let folks know what they found. Too bad Subaru doesn't do one of those cut away display motors that you sometimes see at auto shows-maybe they will next year!

i want to know how sharp the handling is... at least compared to the new evo and a handful of cars already released.
skid pad, slalom #s, braking distances, and overall feel. the extra power is nice with the 2.5, but whoever comes out on top between the STi and EVO in said departments is probably going to get my vote. |

I'd like to know:
Will Subaru of America offer us the same warranty coverage that Subaru UK offers on Prodrive modified cars. (Sure, the answer is "not a chance in hell", but wasn't that the same answer you'd assume for whether we'd ever get a 300hp STi?) Second, I'd like to know how much extra scoot the Prodrive Power Pack would give to the STi, and when I could buy it. I have the Prodrive suspension on my RS, and it's very impressive. Honestly, all the other questions will be answered in about 10 days when the media embargo expires. Get your pre-order in before that happens! |

Another cool thing to know would be the unofficial code name for the USDM STi. I doubt they'll ever publically mention it. Hint: this car was aimed at beating the USDM EVO.... Quote:

On the drive by wire question: I believe the idea is that it can provide even better throttle response than a mechanical system. Other stuff we'd like to know: A HP/torque curve would be great. A boost curve. More details on operation of DCCD including how the auto mode works. Glenn |
