Default What's the Scariest Movie Ever Made??

I just got done seeing "The Exorcist of Emily Rose". Not a bad movie, but not all that scary. It seems that the director couldn't decide whether to make this a suspense/thriller or a "true life account" type movie. I think if he had picked either (instead of a bit of both) it would have been a better movie. Anyway, it got me thinking about the other movies I considered "really scary" and, therefore, really enjoyed.

So, I'm looking for you guys to let me know what you think were some of the good "scary movies". I'm not talking horror or slasher or cheesy-crap. I'm talking about movies like: The Exorcist, Silence of the Lambs, Rosemary’s Baby. I might even put The Ring in that list. Movies that were truly scary, sometimes not because of what they showed, but what they didn't show.

Anything goes, so let's here your suggestions so I can get busy watching

a buddie's uncle showed the exorcist to his 10 year old daughter one night. that night, when she went to sleep, he snuck into her room in the middle of the night and took the corners of her bed and shook the bed violently.

dads like that are awesome.

I saw the movie Ghost Story when I was 9, had just come out in the theatres...and dang, that move scared me big time..

haven't seen it since, so it's probably not all that bad now..but then, sheesh..what a doozy.
