WRX Brake Pads Size Question????
I own a 2002 WRX sedan. I would like to get some brake pads for my car. I would prefer to get some Hawk pads over other brands. I called EBC and Hawk and asked them about the pads they make. Both have told me that they DO NOT currently make any pads for a 2002 WRX 2-pot stock caliper.
EBC: The guy at EBC questioned me when I said that TireRack and 3 other vendors on the web sold EBC pads for a 2002 WRX. He questioned how they could sell something that does not exist. He did say that the pad could be for another car and that he was not aware the pad fit the 2002 WRX. HAWK: The lady I talked with at Hawk said they make pads for a 2000 and 2001 WRXs. But, not currently for the 2002. She did say that the FMSI brake pad industry standard specifications just came out this week for the 2002 model year cars, and after looking at that, she may be able to tell if there are any pads that work. Questions: 1. Are the brake pads on the 2002 WRX the same as the 2000 & 2001 WRXs? 2. Where was there a 2000 or 2001 WRX sold? Europe or Japan I guess. 3. What is the FMSI# for the 2000, 2001 and 2002 brake pads? This FMSI number is a worldwide industry standard for specifications on the pad. The lady from Hawk told me the 2000 and 2001 FMSI # was 225. Anyone that has any input, would be welcomed. I have searched this site and have noticed that several people have used the EBC pads on a 2002 WRX, which seems odd cosidering what the guy at EBC told me. Thanks, Dayton

No offense, but if you did search here and missed the fact that the WRX caliper is the same as the USDM GC8 RS caliper, then I don't know what to say. Any pad for the RS will work in the WRX.

Thanks!! No offense taken.
I have noticed on occassion that several people on this forum have post threads without doing a search first. I try not to be like them. I read about 25 to 30 threads and did not think I was getting anywhere. So I posted, and had the potential to be one of them. I quess my problem was not providing the appropriate key words in the search box. Thanks again!! Dayton |
