Default I think I'm going all the way to the dark side

After hemming and hawwing about what to get as a driver after I sell the wrx, and work on the camaro, I think I've decided.

....A fox body mustang.
You may ask why. Well parts are available and cheap. They are rather reliable, and I know a lot of people that know a lot about them. Peppy enough to get out of their own way, and I think some of em are pretty attractive. Like this one

Plus once I get the camaro together I can mess with the mustangs, because 2 v8's with turbos is cool.

Those were pretty much the last mustang that I liked unconditionally in terms of styling. They look a little dated now, but because the exterior design is so basic, clean examples wear their age well. The interior, probably not so much- mid-80s domestic interiors were pretty nasty. There’s such a strong aftermarket for those cars, though, that can be easily rectified. I think I like the hatch better than the coupe, but that may just be me.

I’d rock one as a daily driver in a New York minute. Gas probably gets a bit expensive, but I must admit that old 5.0 V8 thorugh a set of Flowmasters is a good sound.

Does 'Fox body' refer to the 'notched back' Mustangs or am I missing something?

rao sold his formerly turbo '92 notchback a little while back. that car was incredible.

but explain again briefly why on earth you'd buy a fox mustang rather than work on the camaro? if you buy the stang, sell the camaro. it makes no sense to leave the camaro half (or less) finished.

it's the 79-92 mustang. Fox chassis. notchback is a trunk-- many fox mustangs have a hatch. the trunk models are lighter.

The LX's in that body style may not of been attractive but they were the fastest. Do you have any idea how much all that 'areo' crap on the GT's weighs and how much drag it puts on the cars?

Gross. The Fox body is a frickin wet noodle. And for the same price as a Fox body(atleast around here), you can get a '95. Which has a slightly less gross interior and exterior.

Buddy of mine had one in high school, the LX. Bent the frame and broke two of his rims when he went sideways into a curb. That guy's lucky to be alive after some of the stupid **** he pulled. Anyway, outside of being a ****ty Ford color, it was a fun car.

The camaro has most of the parts, it's not driveable yet, and that is what I need. It's not going to be modded, at least not until the camaro is done. I'm also spending about 20k on the camaro, but only about 4k on the mustang.

4k on a turbo mustang...

yeah OK let me know how that works out!

4k or less on any fox chassis is going to be a beater, or at the least even if the body & interior are in good shape you're not going to get much of anything going on under the hood for that price.

I can get a very stock fox body for that price. Considering I know the makers of 3 of the 5 mustang turbo kits very well I can get all that stuff for cheap when the time comes.

My buddy used to have one, infact it is the one in the "domestic e-thuggin" pic. He wrecked it and got a bike, then sold that and is gettin another 5.0. I think they are sweet.

They don't make bad track cars, if you get them around the corners.

eff you.

being from Albuquerque I think might predispose me to mustangs...I was looking for a pic of the fox body that is in the new BFG ads, Dwayne 'big daddy' Gutridge (did low low 8's on drag radials) and I saw this page. http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...ts/0310mm_wfc/
Not only was I there, but 2 of the guys on the side (Mike Keenan and John Urist) are both friends of mine, and I even saw Mike Keenan today.

...eventually I'll turbo it...and turbo mustangs are just effin cool.
