Default Alternator Belt?!? VIDEO

I just left school and noticed this kind of wheezing noise when accelerating so I popped open the hood when I got back home and took this video once I heard this noise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Wtj...ature=youtu.be

This is an 02 WRX and besides normal oil changes I haven't done much maintenance on it as I don't drive it all that much besides a few miles a day. I don't know if I should be taking this to get checked out at a Subaru dealer in Las Vegas or a local shop or if I can just take care of it myself.

Any ideas or recommendations? Also any idea what to expect pricewise if I went to the Subaru dealer?

Thanks

can you tell if it is your alternator or ac? if not, remove your ac belt and see if its quieter.

We don't guess dealer pricing as that's super dumb as we have NO IDEA of Las Vegas labor rates.

Belts are cheap, take it to any shop like Firestone, Pep Boys, Bill's Garage and tell them you want both belts replaced with Gates brand belts.

Are those places even going to carry Gates brand belts?

Just trying to figure out my plan of attack in the morning as I have an online exam and the rest of the day free. Also in a little bit of a pinch because I got 2 people coming in for the weekend and need the car to cart them around town.

i recently had a belt squeal also. i figured i would just change the accessory belts in the next few days. next thing i know, i was sitting on the side of the road, with the timing belt burned up from 4 of the 5 timing belt idler pulleys seized along with my valves bent. im now in the process of rebuilding my heads. and yes, my timing belt was changed at 90,000 miles but the pulleys werent. since you have an 02 also, PLEASE check your timing belt and pulleys before you ruin something just in case.
