Default AMS ALPHA 12, Worlds First 8 Second GT-R, 3.34 Seconds 60-130mph

History has been made! On Tuesday July 26th our AMS ALPHA 12 GT-R went back to the track with a little more favorable weather conditions. The result was the worlds first 8 second R35 GT-R!

Even with a poor 1.668 60 foot time, the ALPHA 12 driven by our own Special Projects Technician, Ivan Phipps, went [email protected] mph!

In addition, the 60-130 time record was broken again with a 3.34 second blast from 60-130mph!! This makes the AMS Alpha 12 GT-R the fastest recorded street car to date from 60-130 mph!!!

Not bad for a true street car with air conditioning and all the other amenities of a GTR. You can drive this car to the store or across the country!

There are so many people to thank for this and we REALLY hope we do not forget anyone.

Of course all of our sponsors, without your support this would of been much more difficult. Your parts put us over the top!

Cobb Tuning
Darton Sleeves
Dodson Motorsport
Exedy Clutch
Ferrea Racing Components

Thank you to EVERYONE here at AMS! We are 30 plus strong and EVERYONE had a hand in making this happen. From Chris tuning the car and spending countless hours on the Dyno to Tim Salefski building the strongest GT-R engine available. Lets not forget the Engineers and Fabricators for making quite possibly the best performing parts on the planet! Ivan gets the gold star award though. Not only did he build the car, he strapped himself into the rocket and rode it down the 1320 to an 8 second pass.

We'd also like to thank our friends Tim Sanders, Andrew Hadeed and Habib from Rocket Science Racing for their support.

Lastly and most importantly all of our customers. We have been at this game for 10 years now building performance cars. We have never been part of such a tight-knit group of enthusiasts.

Eric

edit, in car

Speedo Video is now up

Ignore the actual speedometer gauge as it was not calibrated correctly for the MPH range the car was operating in. The digital readout is correct though.

lol you can hear all the wheel spin and see Ivan fighting the wheel.

Lastly in case anyone is wondering he says "aw come on!" during the 8 second pass because the tire broke loose again on the 3-4 shift and he thought for sure it was another 9.00 pass.

Special thanks to Arch 5 for the AWESOME intro graphics

Probably somewhere in the range of what a tugboat puts out.

It doesn't even look like it's trying.... Most other 8 second cars sound like they're about to explode at any second and that thing sounds like it's just going up an on ramp.

My god that is FAST!! Great job AMS!! 60-130 in 3.34...that is intense!!

Looking at the slip the car has more in it simply as it sits. There is room left in the 60ft and the 330ft.

holy hell, that is one beast of a machine. One thing I'm surprised with is the car does not have a cage in it. I thought once you get into the 9's you're required to have a cage. I'd personally would like it there just in case you cooked it at doing a buck fifty doing a barrel roll.

that's the beauty of a good variable cam timing system, an well spec'ed cam and a great tuner. I've always been a fan of AMS for their 'doing it the correct way' approach.

Fantastic speed! However, didn't the Switzer R1k run 60-130 one HUNDREDTH a second faster at 3.33 seconds!?

Edit: That was posted TODAY, so... You have been one-upped it seems!

I doubt that thing is street driven with a set up like that. Plus, I'd like to see how well this Camaro does in rain or snow. My main reason for loving AWD. I wish they used it on more American "Muscle" cars, but too many people have this idea that they must be RWD.

In a recent twist of events, we checked our second v-box (we have a standard as well as a video v-box) that was in the car for another run and found a 60-130 run of 3.31 seconds! So we ended up reclaiming the title.

We have the fastest verified time on the largest collection of 60-130 times.

Correct as Ty stated ours is the fastest verified time by a street car. While that car might be capable of driving on the street they are two totally different cars. That car is caged, looks backhalfed, chute etc etc. Ours is full interior, AC, Stereo and drives like a stock car.

Very nice car though.

Also in order to be verified it must be recorded with a V-box or Video Vbox then the data submitted.

He very well might be faster but he has to submit that data.
