Maybe you should pick up a dictionary while you're at it, lmao. Maybe I struck a nerve, again? There will be more chrome accents in the future so have fun not wanting chrome on a car. |

I wonder if they saw warping or something with the LGT's that had the turbos down there? |

Maybe you should tell Subaru that as the '12/'13 Impreza and the '13 XV lack all this chrome that you somehow believe is now the standard. It isn't. |

Not a fan of chrome at all. The M pkg on my 1er removed that ****, thank goodness.
Anyway, this is going to be one of those Subaru you got to see in person I think. The current FXT is a good looking vehicle in person and in pics. This... ugh, I don't know. That FXT bumper is a little on the ridiculous side. Not digging the chrome surrounds on the fogs. Why would I want my attention drawn down there? I still don't know about the pointy nosed hood either. The headlights jut out like the 4Runner. Just looks like somebody didn't have the flow and uniformity police sign off on the styling. Looks like a bunch of different jumbled ideas from various manufacturers. And Subaru... PLEASE fix these on the USDM model. KIA fixed the horrible Optima wheels (which these remind me of), don't even let these make it over here...PLEASE. http://lh6.ggpht.com/-gYPqvrdeQcs/UI...B17%25255D.jpg |

Would be interesting to see an XV version of the Forester, perhaps like the off road one from the SEMA show (or whichever one it was) with approach angles and so on addressed.

i should have been more clear. the new forester is fugly. i might grow on me. but the glk is easy on the eyes. my sister has one. everything is great except the mileage is terrible. and you know how girls are, they hate to feel like they are being copied. my girlfriend has a c240 4matic and want to get a suv awd. well i going to assume she means a compact suv and not a gargantuan suburban or something rather. so i am trying to convert her over to the subaru family. the forester and the outback are "my" choices, but she thinks they are ungly and now the new model is not anymore appealing than the last IMHO. but there isn't alot of good looking compact suv. on the list is the cx-5, forester, outback, rav4, highlanger, and escape. she is a typical girl who just want to something pretty and awd. my criteria is much much longer and pretty isn't one of them.

you know it really depends on the luck of the draw. my mom, girlfriend, girlfried's dad and sister have mercedes outside of warranty and all of them, except for my girlfriend's c240 4matic, had some really random things go wrong. my moms ml500 had a bad steering fluid reservoir leak, brake master cylinder failed. my girlfriend's dad's e500 radiator exploded because of faulty wiring, heater transfer motor fail, air suspension on the driver side failed. then my girlfriend's sister's c55 amg has a retarded list of fails, exhaust, air bags, brakes, fuel system. BUT!!! my girlfriend's c240 has been perfect, except for one of the window regulator broke and once the oil turned into honey mustard, but other than that, perfect. *knock on wood. |

I agree others here that Benz makes the sharpest looking small-ish SUV. All of those problems would turn me off from the brand, though, at least for a decade. To me, the looks aren't worth dealing with all that, and the underlying worry about what was going to break next, and when and where. To me, Subaru provides much more confidence.
Once we can see some professional photos of the Forester in different colors and trims, and with the roof rack, I think it will look fine. Not M-B fine, but at least on par with the class. Maybe it'll be enough to persuade your gf, ans2k. Time will tell. |

i really want to love forester. just as i love the 2012 impreza. i think it is a great small SUV but with its new looks, it is definitely on par with the competition. definitely can't wait for official photos. what is a little scary is the fact that there might be a long wait time as there was/is for the new impreza.

Someone can look good in a car that looks good but it doesn't matter how good a car looks if it's stuck in a ditch. Buy the correct tires and, even if you drive into a ditch, hopefully your AWD system (or 4x4/4WD) is good enough to get you out of that embarrassing situation. I'm hoping she knows that because being stuck in a ditch doesn't exactly spell grace and poise. I can understand where your girlfriend might come from in terms of looks but honestly I think being a ditzy driver who gets stuck in a ditch is less "pretty" compared to someone who drives a not-as-attractive CUV/SUV but actually showed up on time. At least being a woman that's how I see it. Quote:

Those aspects are not mutually exclusive. You can have both utility and good looks. Not sure why you are assuming you can only have one? Quote:

Not sure why you're assuming I even said anything about either one being mutually exclusive. I said "I hate car manufacturer's that prioritize looks over utility and I hope Subaru realizes utility > looks."

Good. No tacky chrome trim around windows. Grill can be easily fixed with the mesh grill. Would actually look 1/2 way decent with the mesh grill rather than that stock grill. |

No, I said "I hope Subaru realizes utility > looks." Just because you prioritize something over the other doesn't mean that it's the same thing as having one and NOT the other. That's why it called prioritizing. You're making an assumption by assuming the latter is what I mean when I didn't state anything literally saying they were mutually exclusive or that Subaru should have to choose one without having the other.

Do you feel you represent all previous generation Subaru buyers? And frankly, almost every single new generation Subaru design is denounced by a vocal group on these and other forums. Other manufacturers have similar responses.

I wonder if the turbo FA model would have a different approach angle compared to the FB engine Forester. |
