Problem will be spotting it at night. Which would make a lot of sense to catch all you pesky Street Racers

what a bunch of a**holes. Nice tint job[can't see anything, isn't that a hazzard?] Man I hate hypocrites.

West valley city cops in salt lake are alot, the same. They speed all the time at night. I get off work at 3:00A.M. and I see them speeding making, illegal turns and they have even tailgated me in the middle of the night. they also put all the speed limit signs 5-10 MPH slower than what they should be.

You Know those trailer's you see on the side of the road that tell you the speed you are going. Those are what they use to determin what speed limit to post. so every time you see one of those floor it.

Brian (and the rest of you)- before you read this I am not trying to flame you but merely dispense some advice that may save you some aggravation. Please take it as such.

Quote:
well let me start by saying he has illegal tint!
So now YOU are MAKING the ASSUMPTION that the tint is illegal without any quantative measurement. Did you take light-meter readings??

Before you go and get all pissed off (and you probably will)- here is my point and advice:

The tint looks illegal to me, but without light meter readings I nor you can prove it. Your N1 exhaust, sorry to say, DOES NOT LOOK STOCK, and therefore they ASSUME it is not and make the stop. It does not sound stock, either.

I'm sorry to say this but fighting the law and the police is not going to get you anywhere but in trouble. What we have to do is find ways to convince our legislators that the law is unfair because we should be able to modify OUR own personal property as long as it does not put our (or others) lives and well-being in jeopardy.

I was in Colorado Springs this weekend and no cops stopped me or anyone else in our group as far as I know. This crackdown you are talking about does not seem evident- they are not going after each and every import they see. They didn't go after me when they saw me on the interstate with:

-My stromung (gotta admit it kinda does look stock)
-My race decals (magnetics) on, that's right I was moving R-i-c-e, except it was for an actual sanctioned, legal event.

From your previous posts I was sweating bullets when he saw me- I was fully expecting a ticket. Did he look at me- you bet. But guess what- I didn't get a ticket or even pulled over- maybe he is on of the few "cool" cops in COS as you put it.

If you are hanging with the street-racer crowd (please tell me you are not), you are seen in the eyes of the cops as a street-racer. I'm not saying that this is the case, but please consider my point here, I'm trying to help you out.

My .10 cents....

jj what time did you swoop through? or was it for the auto x? i have yet to be stopped at daylight. no i dont take things the wrong way man. i like cops. just not all the hipocritical ones here. ie. the monte carlo ss white muscle car a police officer drove..... my wife heard it drive up to her offices. out came a cop. full uniform. in his car louder than my RS.
everyone thinks i hate cops, well, no i dont hate them. without them all the arseholes would run rampant. i am not going to take my exhaust off for no cop or law. period. its my ***** i will do with it as i please. not trying to sound smart but its my car. not theirs. now if i go out to pick my son up from the sitter if i get this postal job then iwill be pissed and probably sell it for a stromung or something just as loud but stock looking...
you see jj i do hang with the street racers they are a good group of well kids. cuz most of them are wayy younger than i. they are into cars performance and haveing a good time without trouble.
Quote:
Before you go and get all pissed off (and you probably will)
jj do i seem like one to get mad over your opinion when i have asked for your opinion and or advice man... ? cmon bro.
Quote:

also jj assumption is the mother of all... well you get thepoint. you said it yourself without measureing it they have no way to tell my exhaust is louder than stock but yet i was issued a ticket... hmm thats bogus. it may not be stock but how was it determined it it was louder.. forget the exhaust stuff. i just wanted to show youall what they are driving so if your speeding and i know you do i havent ridden in a iclubbers impreza that didnt speed or drive like a bat out of hell. you are probably jj the most toned down driver i have ridden with. i mean that as a compliment man.

dont worry about the cops and me. i have that on lockdown. hehe ttyl. i am not as short tempered as i guess i seem to look... i am a open minded individual, i just dont like beeing told what i can or cant do to my property when others including cops, break the law. did i tell you about the car with a short i saw one night?

hey guys, about the radar trailer things . . . some of them have cameras in the back, so when you go by, they shoot a pic of the a$$ end of your car with your license plate, and they send you a nice fat ticket for the max it recorded you at, so be careful around those, eh!

Photo radar is a joke. As for it taking a pict of your a$$ end anyone who pays that ticket is an idiot. By law they must have photo of the driver. Any photo radar ticket that dose not have a photo of the drive will be thrown out in court.

Tickets go to the drivers not to the cars owner. If they had only a pict of your A$$ end there would be no way to prove that you where behind the wheel. If they don't have a pict of you don't pay it fight it.

Here's proof that photo radar will take a photo of your @ss. I hope the police have a good time trying to identify the guy!

sk8ing19,
Tickets go to the car's registered owner not the driver in this case. If you don't believe me, drive up to Ft Collins and run that red light on College Ave with the cameras installed and have your picture taken. Here's a good link which also confirms this: http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20010816-72704193.htm
Apparently Lockheed/Martin (who makes the cameras), gets about half of the ticket revenue! I don't know which law you are talking about, care to share a link?

And as for Sidewinder, he has been trolling in here before. All I can say to the rest of you is:

jds - you can't link to a photo on your computer like you did above when you entered c:\personal\radarbutt2.jpg - you must use a photo hosted on the web, which I can do if you send it to me.

PS: Those Gran Prix GTP are slow at high altitude since their superchargers don't adjust boost for altitude pressure loss. One ran a 15.4 @ 90 consistently last light at Bandimere.

I guess you would be one of those idots I was talking about if you did pay that tix. Speeding is the act of a person, not the car. You don't see your car take off in the middle of the night and go for a drive by itself do ya. No, it needs to have someone driving it. A speeding ticket goes to the person driving, the person doing the speeding. With out proof that you where driving the car they cant give you the tix.

And I have done it. I got a pict taken in Boulder, they had a pict of me but it was so hard to tell it was me that I fought it and the tix was thrown out. Even thought the pict of my plate was as clear as day.

If they don't have pict they have no case.

So sk8ing19 you had one ticket thrown out, which means that no one else in the world has to pay an automated camera ticket ever again, right? Um, who is the idiot in here again?

I'm happy you were able to lie your way out of a ticket, but usually it is quite obvious from the picture you are driving. But you are too much of a c00l sk8ing d00d to get caught speeding I'll bet.

First off I am not to cool to get a tix. I have one and paid it. However there are still many issues with the legality of photo radar. The point I was trying to convey to you is that tixs are issued to the person commiting the crime not the car. Without proof of who was driving the car there is no tix to be issued. Ask any police officer.

Also I did not lie but instead took advantage of the System. See there are two kinds of people, the ones who use the system and the ones that get used by it. It's your choice. I think I'll use it.

Had a cruiser pass by me so fast it shook my car. This was at 12:15am on Hwy-76 east bound. No lights, no sirens. So I decided to follow. He was doing around 95 mph in a 65 mph zone. I'm pretty sure he was going faster but I didn't want to push my luck.

Not the first time I've seen them do this.

I just want out of the system... but alas it can not happen.

you don't have to pay the ticket, unless they can prove that it is you driving. you will have to pay court fees most likely but you wont get any points...
