Default HR: Autozone oil and filter special

I thought I'd just pass this bit of info on to everyone. Autozone has 5 quarts of Syntec and K&N oil filter combo on sale for $29.99.

Works!

If the store doesn't have the K&N filter, talk to the manager on duty, they can easily OK swapping for a different brand.

Bought oil for myself (or Ceez3607 ), Nhat, and wrxSIN.

All while logging with Tut4u2!

LMK if you do... AutoZone FC only had 8 quarts of 0w30.

I'd need... 2 quarts 0w30 and 3 quarts 5w30 to make a more legit oil change

1 K&N
1 Bosch Premium
1 Fram (Che donation for driving me to AutoZone instead of me getting lost )

Edit: still have at least 3 of the PureOne purolator filters... but definitely could always use more!

I bought mine last thursday when the sale started. I didn't put the KN filter on though as I haven't heard anything about it (good or bad) so stuck with my pureone for now.

This is really old news now. The filter element in a K&N filter is a joke. The OEM Tokio Roki and Napa Gold filters are the best to use. I have heard from numerous people that your oil pressure will change going from the K&N filter to an OEM one as well. I dont have first hand experiance in this yet though as my Defi Oil Pressure gauge is still sitting in a box. I used a K&N filter before on my car, but then I found out this info....just OEM ones for me now.

I've never heard anything bad about any of K&N's filters. Whether it be oil, fuel, or air. I've used them for over a year now. It's not going to make your oil disappear out of your engine so it is not going to affect your oil pressure unless the filter canister doesn't seal properly. There are other things that cause that problem.

I didn't intend to start a big discussion about oil filters. If you want to debate the values of various types of oil filters please start a thread in the appropriate part of nasioc. I just wanted to pass on news of a good deal that can save my fellow Subie peps some money. The link you provided takes in to account the construction and appearance to ascertain the filter quality. While I'll admit good construction is extremely important. It's the size of the particles that are filtered and flow that makes a good filter.

I will admit the real reason I use K&N oil filter is because I love the 1 inch nut they put on the bottom of the canister to make the filter change just a little easier.

My goal was not to start a discussion about oil filters, but to simple state the fact that a large portion of our community shuns K&N filters for X reason. Its no difference than the response you will get if you post you want S-Techs . The filter can change your pressure as the data logs of many members have attested to. The filters are so bad that there are shops in NOVA that have them cut open and placed on their "wall of shame" . But hey, if you use them then fine, its your car.

Provide actual empirical data to back up your statement or stop posting rubbish.
