Your going to notice only a small difference between 2.5in and 3in. Especially on a semi-straight length of pipe.

[edit]Just using some approximate numbers of 1200-1500cfm, between 2.5in and 3in pipe for a 6ft run, assuming strait length, and your looking at about 0.89psi difference on a stock 08 WRX, and your looking at exhaust velocities of about 730ft/s and 510ft/s for the 2.5 and 3 respectively. I assumed EGTs between 1000 and 1200F which I don't know is anywhere accurate.

How about this. Our Exhaust for the HB are starting to ship, and we are throwing our car on the dyno today to do some STage 2 and CAtback exhaust tests. I will compare these to a customer who we tuned at our open house a few weeks back. This customer had that SPT exhaust. I will load his map on the car and run them back to back. While this will not be a perfect back to back test of the SPT exhaust, if there is a difference in power, we will let you know!
I too respect that a lot....it is great to see a shop that has a genuine interest in the car, and not just blindly pushing their product! This is why I'll be looking to Perrin for a DP Curious as to what the dyno #'s show!!

And just to reiterate, I raise the 2.5"/3" discussion for the sake of intelligent conversation, and definitely not for the sake of questioning your product (or attempt to justify the SPT for that matter)

Im not sure how 3" would improve the car back there if it is already 2.5 in the middle of the DP. The gases will have much more velocity in the DP than in the mid/resonated section.

Done and in production. Looks HOT on the car! Sounds even better. Sound clips going up this weekend I believe, final dyno results were finished on the car yesterday and the whole lot will be posted ASAP!

Also, some killer results on the PERRIN Stage Two and One Tune with the new PERRIN cold air intake systems for the 08 WRX! Jeff did a fantastic job! More on that ASAP as well!

Thanks again folks!

Hey now, not intentionally! If you read back multiple people were looking for more information and we provided it. Also, SpongeBob made his own post and he isn't affiliated with PERRIN.

If other vendors, or mfr's want to jump in I say go for it! This is just an informational thread. No links to our website etc. But THANK YOU for linking to the other thread. That is handy!

Let me or my staff know if we can help in anyway!

I would consider this if Perrin had an introductory offer that matched spt, but as it is, deliveries are being made on the SPT sedan units, so it can't be more than weeks away, and since I've been waiting since April 3 (well, August of last year really) for this exhaust, what's a few more weeks when no one else has an introductory offer that is this tempting?

I waited almost 6 months for my original accessport on my other wrx, this wait is childs play.

And a tip, don't cancel the order for the SPT, buy it even if you do get the perrin, keep it boxed up in your garage and wait for the $300 introductory offer to run out, then sell it for profit.

Interesting approach and a good idea to pocket some change in the whole deal!

Found out today the first video turned out like crap. Went to go make another with my video dude and the car was OUT of gas. Like OUT. So in the AM, sending a grunt to the gas store to get 5 gals. Then filming in the AM. Sorry for the delay guys. Been slammed!

Hope that helps!

Anything else I can do?

Picked up an '08 Sedan a few weeks ago as a daily driver to keep miles off my C5. Pretty fun little car. Just trying little free mods right now to see what I can get out of it.

Ran midnight drags with it Sat. night. 80 degrees out and 100% humidity. First pass iced the intercooler for about 20 minutes prior to the run and unbolted the mufflers car ran a 2.0 60', slight bog, and shifting into fourth going through the traps ran a 14.8@90. Second pass iced the intercooler for about an hour car ran a 2.1 60' and 14.8@91 but holding third through the traps. Third and final pass pulled the air filter, and was able to ice the intercooler for about 30 minutes. Car pulled another 2.0 60' and 14.46@ a little over 94, Car picked up just over 3 MPH without the air filter.

3MPH greater trap > small bird sucked in turbo.

you should be able to get 1.8s (or better) without damaging to the tranny.

otherwise, get dry ice for the intercooler, you'll thank me later

I agree! even in my older WRX's I could hit 1.7 60ft with out breaking the "glass" tranny.
