WTB: any 2.0L rear O2 sensor, 3" downpipe
Hey guys,
The O2 sensor is oxidized so badly that it's melded with my stock downpipe, so I need a new one for the catless downpipe getting installed. Also too I just found out that the Invidia bellmouth I bought isn't going to mate up correctly with my APS catback because of the STi drivetrain that just got bolted up so I'm going to experiment with a different downpipe. Let me know what you got!

The entire drivetrain was swapped to a 2005 STi. The uppipe was swapped to a COBB rigid unit (no flex joint). I don't know why the downpipe doesn't rit, but if I bolt it to the turbo, where it goes to meet the catback, it is actually very close to the underside of the car and if I pull the catback up to meet it, it hits the driveshaft before it aligns with the downpipe. It's easily 3/8th too high. I'm thinking either this invidia DP was meant for a specific invidia exhaust, or it was hit and bent at some point (although it looks fine physically).

Here, a picture. I don't see how long hanger would help though I could be wrong... Last edited by kpluiten; 10-08-2009 at 02:36 PM. |

Does the mount on the downpipe line up with the metal hanger on the tranny?
Was also having the same problem but I do not have the resonator just 3 inch. I am still using the stock downpipe style flange so it is able to adjust angle with hangers and still seal. I have a jdm downpipe tho so the exit is a few inches shorter. From your explanation and picture it sounds like a different solution is needed. Only thing I can see is the invidia downpipe didnt have the resonator in mind and didnt add for clearance. I dont see why it would be the downpipes problem unless a manufacturing flaw. Edit: Oh yeah I have a 3 inch downpipe all the way through the flange lying around you can try out along with a 3 inch stock rear flange. Been meaning to cut them up to make a downpipe for this turbo setup I have but will not have the proper tools for a few more months. First DP is made by focuz? bellmouth, and the second DP is older school HKS style. Last edited by Smoby; 10-08-2009 at 03:59 PM. |

Yeah, it does line up with the tranny mount. There is litterally no play in the system with the DP bolted on to the turbo because the uppipe is a rigid style pipe and there is no wiggle room. Hopefully a eBay DP will fix this issue by hanging lower. |

Bump dont know if you saw my edit.
I dont mean play in the turbo/up-pipe etc. I mean where the midpipe bolts to the downpipe on certain flanges the midpipe can be angled down for clearance. |

I see what you're saying. That's the benefit to the stock style flange with the sping bolts for sure. These are flat flanges though so I'm doubting the angle is going to work well unless I made a spacer or something. And even then that would drop the entire catback. Right now it sits under the bumper very nicely.

cat backs are for little girls, just bend that S*** and run a pipe straight out the side!
or you can just let it exhaust out from under the car, and when you get pulled over for noise, just explain to the cop that you have an "exhaust leak" I don't mean to go against your "wtb" but you may consider keeping your quality DP, and rather than getting an ebay one, just take it into an exhaust shop and have them do a little fab work on one or more parts. shouldn't cost much more than that junk ebay DP your getting. but then again, I've never priced work like that |

I'm running a "junk eBay" down pipe and the fit and finish are on par with this Invidia pipe. Infact, I'd say considering this problem, it fits better!
In all fairness, the exhaust hanger did crack off on my DP, but it was cheap ($80) so who cares! It's holding up fine at 373WHP! |

Really...makes me wonder if that's just the normal fitment of an APS exhaust, then? Oh, and would it be better to go with a different uppipe that maybe flexes a little to make up for the 3/8" difference?
