Default Three questions. One about an oil pan, one about fuel, and one about intake manifold

1. I tried searching this and came up with a lot but most of it was old and/or irrelevant. I'm building a 2.0 and I am wondering whether or not it's recommended to run an STI oil pan. After a lot of thinking I'd really like to use an equal length header, something like the Perrin, because of the increase in performance. I know this requires and STI or aftermarket oil pan. Is it stupid and/or risky to use an STI oil pan on a car that will be seeing at least an 8k redline? I know there were a lot of issues with the pickup on the STI cracking and I really don't want that to happen. Are there any aftermarket oil pickups? I know the WRX is preferable also because of the bigger capacity. The motor will be out anyways so now is the time to do it. How about an aftermarket oil pan? Or something totally different?

2. I plan on running at least a gt30r. Do I need more than a Walbro 255 lph pump? Dual pumps? Something else? Or should I be fine? Also I'm running modded WRX injectors that are around 820cc. Bigger? Good enough?

3. Lastly, I'm going to be buying another intake manifold to make things easier on myself. My TGVs are already gone so I'll just swap those to the new manifold. I'm wondering if, as long as I have an extra one sitting around, I should do anything to my new intake manifold. It will be a stock 2002 style intake manifold. Bigger throttle body? Porting? Anything else?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The build, if it matters:
EJ207 short block
79mm stroke crank
slightly longer rods
pistons
ej205 heads
ported exhaust ports
1mm over valves
buckets
bigger cams
gt30r

I ran a GT30R with PE800 injectors on a 2L with a single Walbro for a long time. I'm sure something bigger which flows more is better but you can get away with a single walbro. The 2L also have v7 large ported head with 1/2 mm larger valves.

On that block I ran the STi oil pan (don't forget you will need to run the STi dip stick as well) I did however overfill it all the time. 5.5 quarts. I ran the WRX pick up tube with it. Again, was that the best thing to do?????? It did work.

1. MachV makes said upgraded pickup tube. Right here
2. That should be ok as long as you're not going to run e85
3. Go ahead and port match them to the tgv's that you've got ported out and do some smothing on them.

Other than that, sounds good! Keep us updated.

sounds good dude, i agree with the port matching, and the only the is that i have herd that walbros fail sometimes, and with a set up like that it would be sad to loose, i dont know what other pumps are out there though

so looks like you decided to go with the sti stroker, if you get yours done first, which i think you will let me know how it is

Thanks for the help and info guys. I'll definitely take what you said into consideration. We'll see if I actually finish mine first, I think I'm still quite a ways out. I only have the short block ordered and I'll need to wait on cash to even start ordering the rest.

I guess nothing about the pan, besides a smaller capacity IIRC. More a question of the integrity of the pickup in the STI pan. There have been quite a few posts now of it breaking and that would be no bueno.

The only reason people switch to the STi pan is to run equal length headers. Either that or to be fanbois...

Right, which is exactly why I'm asking... I want to run an EL header for the spool and performance gains.

It has a different contour to allow the fitment of certain kinds of EL headers. IE: Perrin, mad dad, gtspec gen3, and last but not least, the factory twin scroll header.

I don't think it fits, pretty sure you HAVE to have the STI pickup.

Oh I didn't see that. Hmm, maybe you can. Most threads I've read say you do the pan and pickup. I'll have to read around some more.

I'll have to pull out my pickups and pans and compare. I've got one of each for WRX and STi.

That'd be sweet, thanks! So far I think I will go sti pan, EL headers, port match my intake manifold, and leave my fueling alone.
