Yes the TB on the LSx is in the front facing forward in most applications.

It's been a while since I've had one of those engines apart, but can't you reverse the manifold and point the TB backwards?

No, but it is possible to delete the EFI and get a intake manifold for a carburetor. But if you're gonna do that, just grab a SBC motor and plop that in there.

Yeah, I've seen the carb intakes for them before. For some reason I thought everything was symetrical and you could just turn the manifold around and bolt it back down. I was wrong. Oh well it's been a few years since I have messed with an LS1. All I do is subies anymore.

I'm sure that a manifold could be fabricated to have a rear throttle body

I wouldn't say they are garbage because they can make some power.

UPDATE

I buddy of mine found me a 10k mile SVX motor from a dismantler. Was involved in an accident and the pass side cam timing gear is busted up. Other than that it looks pretty clean.

Will be doing a inspection on it this weekend and if it's good, then it will be going into the SVX.

Looks like V8 SVX is not going to happen anytime soon.

Pass side timing gear is busted.

Cam gear housing cover is cracked,

Valve cover near the of the head is busted. where it mates up to the cam gear housing.

I have yet to pull the covers off, but i am pretty sure that this will be good to go.

I mean the injectors are still bright red in color. Most SVX injectors are a faded pink due to age.

Fear not Mongoosaroo... this motor is going into my wife's SVX. No sense in putting a fresh motor into a car that I might sell. Wife's SVX motor is going into the parts SVX. That way I can drive it around and not have it sit. I might end up selling it but I also might be secretly gathering parts for the SBC swap. You never know what you will find in the back of my garage
