since i am lazy, i use a 50/50 mix of mobil 1 and synchromesh. change about every 20k.

works great, a bit easier to source. 40k+ miles of smooth shifting.

its really not hard to get all the stuff.

amazon.com has all of it.

after doing the cocktail...

I can actually put my car into first while going between 10-20 mph's

and shifting is just much smoother

Another Uncle Scotty's convert here...

Yesterday I was able to gather the ingredients locally (rather than ordering online & paying for shipping).

2 were actually easy to find: the Redline Lightweight Shockproof & the Pennzoil Syncromesh. The one I thought was going to be the easiest to find wasn't - the Castrol HypoyC. 5 stores later, I finally went to this small local auto parts store and found 2 quarts of it.

So today after struggling for an hour & a half, sweating in the heat and a trip down to Sears for a breaker bar to get the drain plug out, I am happy to say that my car loves the Uncle Scotty's Cocktail. The 2nd gear whine I had is now barely audible and it shifts like butter into all gears.

Thank you Uncle Scotty!

I just did about 2 hours of twisty back-roads driving on Sunday in 110 degree weather...

My transmission did great, shifted great - nice and smooth, no problems at all.

dude you are still trying to sell your product? it seems every post you make regarding Uncle's cocktail you have to post that you are selling a kit, and complaing about not being able to promote it.

RULES ARE RULES. If you want to sell then become a vendor

also I seriously doubt that you are not profiting by selling your kit. So you are telling all of us that you are NOT making a profit from your activities and you "made" this kit for the better good of this community?

sorry but I am skeptical about that.......you try so hard to sell the goods that I cannot believe that you are doing this out of good will.....imo

Uncle Scotty, we fixed 3x 5mt with your cocktail and one bad shape 6mt!! I have to conclude that it will work on a 6mt and will using it in that
application. Took a few kilometers with the mix but after a few, the grinding going down from 5th to 4th is totally gone.

Seems almost not necessary to comment, but I put in the cocktail over the weekend, and I immediately noticed smoother and quicker / crisper shifts in all gears. I had no troubles with my tranny before (05 WRX) but this is great. Kinda like going from stock to stage 2. This can benefit even good working trannies.

I would tell everyone to try this. Uncle Scotty, you are the man!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Mweinst and Uncle Scotty. Got my fluids for 50 bucks, shipped, no hassles. Threw them in and instantly my problems with my 2nd gear have disappeared. Shifts are smooth and quiet now...magic!

I'm using 100% GM Synchromesh right now and it works quite well. I'd like to try the US cocktail at my next change. I used to blend Synchromesh and regular stock gear oil 50/50 but 100% Synchromesh feels better. Just out of curiosity, how did Uncle Scotty come up with this blend? It would have to be an insane amount of trials and testing. Regardless, the feedback is amazing and I'm really looking forward to giving it a try.

I think he reads things like the nutrition labels on consumables.. But it's posted somewhere else in this 12 page documentory on how the cocktail was conceived...

Do not use 100% GM synchromesh as it has been reported by board members, here, to cause bearing and other failures in Subaru 5MT's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ack! I'll change out the gear oil this weekend to your recommended blend. Looking forward to trying it.

I've changed to Redline 75w90NS in the 6MT and after 1000-2000 miles it has started to have 4th gear synchro issues. Shoul I add in some Redline 75w90 to friction the mix (in the garage) or just dump it all out and go with regular oil?

I think it is synchros because it only happens going from 3rd or 5th into fourth and never when going from 4th to neutral to fourth.
