Let's hear 'em...

I just ran a [email protected], sounds kinda slow, maybe.
First time ever at the track though. And all I have is an intake, and a bare interior. I'm looking for people with mods, and stock. Even 0-60 times, whatever. Let's figure out what these things are capable of.

Default That's a good time....

Man, that's a good time. I ran a 15.6something @ 86 something-or-other mph last year in May. Temperatures were over 25 celcius so it was a hot day. All I've got is a PDM intake and a Stromung exhaust. Kept my interior though.

My friend who was also racing his MY00 RS sedan ran a 15.4something.

Do a search for Kevin Thomas' 1/4 mile registry. You'll find lotz of info in there.

LaterZ!

I went 16 flat @ 88.25 MPH on a 90 degree day....one of the guys here with the Ganzflow, K&N filter and APEX N1 axle back exahust went 15.56 yesterday on a 50 degree day.

Oh yeah my car was 100% bone stock at that time with just over 6200 VERY easy driven miles...turbo kit coming soon to an RS near you . With now almost 12k on the car it pulls MUCH harder and has had a nice breakin.

Default Optimism

I have "computed" all of my 7 quarter mile runs and have come to the conclusion that, if I got the perfect run, with the perfect setup, my car is capable of 15.00 flat, possibly even(should I say...)14.9~~. I'll try and make this happen at the next Lapeer meet, so you guys don't think I'm talking outta my ars.

By the way, I believe I'm running somewhere around a 6 FLAT 0-60. And driving my brothers WRX only makes me drool.

I ran a 15.7 with stromung muffler, throttle body mounted filter and UOR pulley.....in an auto

AndresRS01 had the fastest N/A that I knew of....14.4 and a 14.3, of course he now has parted out his car and I think even sold it.

I ran a 15.38@89mph back in June. I had (at the time) a rear Bosal/Subaru muffler section and a Rallispec intake, no spare, and maybe half a tank of gas. Now, with my mid pipe, maybe I could shave off a bit.

Sorry to burst your bubble...A 14.9 will not happen with the mods that you have, I don't care how good of a driver you are.
Trust me I know. A 15.0 is a great time if you can hit it..
BTW: how are you launching?
what are you shifting at?
tire pressure?
what gas are you using?
1/4 tank or not?

I ran a 15.08.

Cobb CAI
5-Zigen Fireball Catback
1/4 tank of gas
Rear struts set to stiffest setting
38 PSI all four tires.
Removed spare tire

Launched the car at 4500. I spared no mechanical empathy for the tranny though.

How do I make the buzzer sound. Anyway, my car weighs a tick under a civic h/b right now, and I was running on a half tank. It's possible, hard, maybe even improbable, but definetly possible.

My car runs soo nice right now.

i need that Bs flag...that's cool

yeah i am also interested in how you made you car weight under 2100 lbs. I can't even imagine how you could shed 700 lbs off an RS. i could see 100 lbs with bumper beams, another 15 with the hood, but where else??

On my gtech I got 15.2 with my friend in the passenger seat (160lbs) and a full tank of gas, and about the very end was a little up-hill.

mods:

205/50/16 toyo t1-s
underdrive pulley
apexi n1 canister w/ 2.25" cat-back exhaust
ganzflow intake w/ amsoil filter

my 0-60 on that run was 7.13sec (with him in the car)

I launched her at 5k rpms clutch dump .

-----

Now when I was alone in the car I pulled a 6.9 second 0-60.

I havent gotten to the real track b/c everytime I show up they stop taking cars...I have driven 100miles 4 different times (one way) to race on the drag strip....and I have been told to go home each time.

nice dude.
Did you notice much of a hp gain with the cams?

Say if you were going 80 in 5th gear, does it accelerate faster?

later,

Talking

my best 1/4 mile to date was 15.3@89mph with only a muffler and a weapon r intake and a full tank of gas

now it's a different story i have yet to try it with my new mods

cobb cams
mrt header
mrt midpipe
ceramic clutch
lightened flywheel

I want my car to run under 14.5.

Blindeye_03 about the cams, the car pulls harder at any speed

No way. The cams offer gains at high rpm, not low. 80mph in 5th is definitely not high rpm, considering 4th in an RS will reach to about 100MPH.

With my launch technique and lame stock clutch my car is only good for low 15s. I have a 6 puck clutchnet disc and heavy duty pressure plate, but since I don't really care about drag racing such a slow car I'm not installing it until the stock clutch is toast.

My mods:
DIY cold air intake / AMSOil panel filter
Cobb Tuning street cams
DIY mild head porting
2.25" catback, 2.25" Borla turbo muffler

Only other mod I have planned is headers when I get fed up with the exhaust leaks from the stock setup or it becomes a performance problem. Brullen's new headers look promising but that price is hard to swallow...

I have decided that my RS is fast enough, it should satisfy me for the next ~4 years until I can afford a ej20-single turbo swap.

I will be doing the swap with a friend (we have all the tools...why not ), so it should be TOO expensive.

Its just more cost effecient to modify a turbo motor IMO. (dollar vs hp gain I mean).

none the less, NA 2.5 RS's are FAST AS H3LL.

the cobb cams look like a pretty good way to go fast, but how much do they cost to instal?

tydon, my cams cost me around $450 to get installed. Blindeye, they do pull a little harder, but I only notice them around 4K and up. Personally, I think the $900 I have invested in them would have been better spent towards a downpayment on a WRX.

no argument there, and my cams cost me $300 plus about $60 in consumables (gaskets&whatnot) plus about 50 man-hours of labor split between 3 guys.

small gain. proven, but small.

<--- I go fast with this
