Talking Guess what I just test drove.

The SVT Focus will be my next car.

The End.

Pat came along too, he can vouge for how giddy I was before and after driving it.

I don't know what you are driving now, but why don't you test drive a WRX? Its a similar sized car with much more performance. After I took my test drive, I bought one.

I might be getting one since the subaru dealer here doesn't want to sell me a wrx, can't find a rsx-s anywhere, the closest mazdaspeed dealer is over an hour away, and the mini s waiting list is 6+ months

I have driven a well set-up Focus in HS trim. Motor has no guts but DAMN does that car STICK. I can only imagine what the SVT will be like once it is prepped a little better.

Cool. Now were you giddy b/c of the car, or was it b/c of Pat?
Ya, I also can't wait to see how that thing handles. It has a very nice smooth look to and, if you want, they have Morette's for Foci also.

Tsk tsk tsk guys when will you ever learn. Horsepower isn't everything. You all harp that the Focus doesn't have as much HP as the WRX, so somehow that makes it inferior. But by the same logic, there are quite a few cars with way more HP than the wrx, so with that, the WRX must suck.

Focus SVT isn't turbocharged. And it doesn't suck. Someone's been drinking the Hatorade early in the morning I see.

Go for it Jay! I saw nice Altezza and Mad Cow Catcher bumper for Pocus in one very cute ricer shop .
Seriosly; Focus was only one ford I was thinking to buy before REX.
Beside you have practically unlimited access to discounted ford parts.
And your management will be more respectfull to you; "...that boy now a member of proud Ford family..." See.

Geez, everyone seems to think the WRX is the only car in the world that's any good
Little cars with good handling and so-so HP can be lots of fun too, it's just different, not better/worse.
My Omni GLH was a blast, great on the track and cheap so I could beat on it and not care But, in the end it really was a POS
Have fun Jay, hope to see it at a meet soon. I hope your connections at the dealer will keep your warranty alive with all those mods

There are people that would call the WRX a pos too. The transmission is junk, the drivetrain is marginal at best, stock engines have been failing more recently lately. Ring and piston problems are going to be a dime a dozen in a few more months. The stock tires are junk, the car should basically just come without wheels. The interior? Basically junk, everything in my car rattles, the windows, the doors, the dash, the rear deck, all the pillars. Everything on the interior scratches as if it were made out of butter, the seat covers are too thin and wear easy. The exterior paint? Lets not even go there, talk about a half ass way to save money and weight. I have done better paint jobs myself, and I'm hardly a painter. The stock suspension is too soft to be at all considered 'sporty'. The car is anemic down low, I've driven mopeds with better pick up. The stock sound system is junk, the tweeter locations were picked by engineers that know nothing about how to set up a proper system. Bass? Where?

The only redeeming quality the WRX has is that it is cheap, it doesn't even excel at anything, it just happens to be good in a few different areas (Jack of all trades, master of none).

The wrx is junk, by all means, and I own one.

Fast AutoX times are great for racing but how often are you racing?

How many cars in the REX's price range have the solid planted feel of the RS's and WRX on the road? Yeah I get annoyed with the notchy trannie and other little probs but when I'm moving swiftly through my fav backroads or just driving along on the parkway my subie feels like Im driving a much more expensive car.

Actually, stock for stock, the SVT Focus should feel more planted than a WRX because it comes with bigger wheels & tires, and it's a much lighter car.

Ford Motor Co. will offer a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty on the 2003 Focus in an effort to boost sales and overcome the Focus' reputation for shoddy quality.

Its not void when im the one doing the warranty work on it

im not waiting for the turbo focus...that will be here 2004 or 5 if we are lucky, they have already debuded the 2003 SVT, its the same with the adition of HIDS as an option and now a 5 door hatch version. I doubt the SVT will get the 100,000 mile warranty.

Hatorade...priceless

the Focus SVT runs the slolam faster the an WRX and pulls more lateral gs. so take that!

I dont mind the haters. Go put a bumper sticker on you WRX so SOA can void your warranty.

The Focus is just as heavy as an RS...2850lbs I think
